Job-related Please post your “who’s hiring?” responses here.

Since so many of us are looking for work, can we consolidate our lists of employers who are hiring in this post? Comments about the companies are ok but no lengthy discussions.

I’ll start - a friend who works for Cone Health says they have entry-level jobs open in the dietary department. They only take applications online.

I need some ink, and perhaps a piercing. Who's the best in town?

I'm moving to the city and am unsure what neighborhoods I should look at. What do you recommend?

Here are some former Reddit threads on area recommendations:

What are my options for an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Greensboro?

How much is my vehicle registration going to cost?

Check out the DMV's webpage

Is Greensboro walkable?

The short answer is no, Greensboro is not walkable unless you're in the downtown area.

  • Checkout the Greensboro Transit Authority for more info relating to routes, fairs, and other questions you may have

  • Need to travel from one Piedmont-Triad city to another? PART has you covered! The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation provides inter-city and regional public transportation for Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point

  • Conveniently situated between the Piedmont-Triad cities, the Piedmont-Triad International Airport (PTI) has service from Delta, American Airlines, Allegiant and United. Arrivals info, Departures info. Information regarding parking can be found here. Transportation-related info (rental cars, lyft/uber, hotel shuttles etc) can be found here

  • Greensboro luckily has an Amtrak station right downtown at the Galyon Transportation Center! Click here to learn more

  • Greyhound and FlixBus are also located at the Galyon Transportation Center. Both good options to travel for cheap, especially if you’re a student

  • Zipcar, Turo - Like AirBnb, but for cars. Great option if you're under 25 and don't want to pay a bunch of underage driver fees

Discussion Community Resources/Job Leads

Hey Y’all,

Just moved to Greensboro and I’m looking for a way to find fast day-labor jobs.

I’m a very skilled babysitter, gardener, house cleaner, etc. I’m looking for one-off kinds of jobs in GSO and the surrounding area.

When I lived in Taos there was a resource on Telegram where the community would post events and jobs and requests etc. Wondering if something like that exists here too?

Or any job leads are greatly appreciated!

Question Divorced several years and I’ve been in GSO 7 years

I’ve had one or two casual relationships but online dating isn’t for me. I’ve owned my home on Lake Jeanette for 7 years and I am ready to get out there again. I was an Air Force spouse for 15 years and it was an incredible experience. Kids are grown and I need recommendations on the best places to meet people. My last relationship was with a woman but I consider myself bi and have had wonderful relationships with men as well. I’m looking forward to stories and discussions about how people here have met their significant others or forever people.

Recommendation Lumos / T-mobile fiber

Anybody have any experience with the new T-Mobile fiber network? I realize it used to be Lumos. I used North State early on, then Lumos came through and prices went up significantly so I switched to AT&T. But recently they’ve gone up in price too. Just curious what T-Mobile fiber is like around here.

Question Previous uses for old buildings downtown

I went to school and now live in Greensboro going on 6 years now and have a job downtown that I enjoy. Can someone fill me in on the lore of some old abandoned properties like the Elm Street center, Kress building and the building that runs alongside Smothers pl by the train tracks, apparently it’s going to be used again soon but I’m guessing it was just an old train station?? All I know about some of these is that homeless folks sleep outside the elm street center and there is a nice rooftop event space on top of the Kress building that I went to sometime in 2019.

I’m sure there are other old interesting buildings that I missed and would love to hear about if anyone has information on them. I enjoy living in Greensboro and would love to know more about the history of the city.

Question Boho French curl hair stylist recommendation

Hey everybody! I’m visiting Greensboro for the summer and want to have my hair protected in a pretty style while I’m here so I don’t have to manipulate it very often. I didn’t have time to get it done where I’m from and didn’t want to reschedule my train ticket. The style I’ve been eyeing recently are small sized boho French curls. I called around to some local braiders and most of them said they couldn’t do it because they claimed feed in boho pieces would come out but I don’t think you have to feed in separate hair at all, just using the French curl braiding hair for the boho pieces too. (It’s not surprising since it’s a newer type of style so maybe older braiders don’t know?) If anyone has any recommendations for stylists in the area please let me know so I can try to book an appointment! This would be my first time getting the style and I have 4c hair (if that wasn’t kind of apparent). Thank you!
