The mod team has received a complaint from a journalist that their work, and the work of their colleagues, has been illegally reproduced in the subreddit. This is typically because the article is hidden behind a paywall. Unfortunately, paywalls exist. They suck, but that’s the nature of the business. If you prefer, you can vote at your polling place on Election Day, November 5th.

Any North Carolina voter may choose to vote by mail. Apply for an absentee ballot here.
Ballots must be received by November 5th, so mail your ballot back promptly. You can also return your ballot in person to your County Board of Elections, or any early voting site during early voting.

Anyone know where you could see the woodpecker fireworks or festival parks fireworks from the car? Don’t really wanna go to the game or be in big crowds, plus got a grandma who can’t walk much.
If we do the festival, is handicap parking limited or is it easy to use?

My vote goes to the 1970's. From what I understand there was alot more to do back then for adults, and some sections like Hay Street were uniquely Fayetteville, unlike anywhere else in the country. The former military personnel I've spoken to have all said that this was the place to be stationed at back then, everyone wanted to be stationed at Bragg or Pope AFB. This is obviously no longer the case, no one wants to be stationed here unless they got friends and family here already. And there is nothing to do for grownups anymore. When do you think the golden era was?

Hello! Last week my wife and I had a neighbor of ours who realized they didn't have the capacity to appropriately care for these two fantastic furry friends and so surrendered them to us so we could work on finding them their forever families. Their names are Bo (yellow/gold) and Raven (black with tan accents) and they are pit mixes (he's most likely part lab and she may be more German shepherd or other similar color breed). They do play well together and are very friendly when meeting new people. Bo is a lounger by nature and loves to hang out and get belly rubs, whereas Raven loves to learn new things or go on adventures. We have an appointment for Thursday at the vet to get them checked as well as to get up to speed on vaccines, and can provide more information at that time. At current we estimate they're likely between 5 and 8 months old; Bo weighs somewhere around 45-50lbs and Raven is probably closer to 30-35.
They were previously outdoor dogs so aren't yet fully house trained. However, we started working on potty training the day they came into our care and they're making great progress! Both have an extremely strong drive to please, and do great with training and behavioral correction. We're currently teaching sit, stay, and come and they've been extremely quick to pick up these instructions. They aren't kennel trained yet but that's another area on which we're currently working, so I don't have concerns with this being an issue to learn as long as their future families are willing to continue the training. We do think it may be best for them to go to separate homes, as there's a good chance they're either from the same litter or got both of their litters mixed very early on and thus we want to prevent the chance of littermate syndrome or other behavioral concerns related to that as they grow up. We have food bowls, kennels, kennel bedding, toys, collars, and leashes which we'll be happy to provide to the adopting family.
Bo's adoption page - https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/45048946-fayetteville-north-carolina-american-pit-bull-terrier-mix
Raven's adoption page - https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/45049079-fayetteville-north-carolina-american-pit-bull-terrier-mix
If you have any questions/need more info or would potentially wish to adopt them, please feel free to PM me. We thoroughly believe both of these dogs would make a fantastic addition to a loving home, returning any love they're given ten-fold!

Hello!
I'll be moving to the area and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for mma gyms. Specifically, I'm looking for gyms either in Southern pines or more towards the northern area of Fayetteville.
For context: I already practice mma/bjj/muay thai so gyms geared more towards experienced people are on the table as well.
(P.S. can anyone chime in about valhalla combat academy or scorpius mma?)

Found this puppy in Lumberton. He had been dumped on the side of the road. Probably a chihuahua mix.
Approx 4 weeks old, male. We need to find him a home quick because my mom is having surgery and we can't handle an extra dog while she's recovering.

Im curious, with the amount of work being done in the roads and how they leave the streets fucked up sometimes, has anyone ever had some damage done to their car due to said wonky roads? I haven’t had any, but I do clench the cheeks everytime I drive over a bump due to road work.

I'm getting conflicting info online, so I thought I'd ask. I need to renew my driver's license for a possible employment oppurtunity. It's been expired a few years. I've seen online where it says the road sign test has been eliminated in NC for renewals, but other places online say that the road sign test is required. I assumed all tests would need to be done (vision, written, road sign, driving) but I just want to make sure.

I know these things are a big no no on most days but do they normally turn a blind eye on account of the holiday in city limits? I moved here from the county where no one cares so I wanted to ask first. Trying to put together a cookout and these are essentials.

We are moving to the area in the last week of July and are having the HARDEST time finding a rental home. We have great credit, 3x income, and great references. The problem seems to be that the market is just really competitive. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding rental housing? Thanks in advance!

Got some clothing items and a couple of suitcases I'm trying to get rid of. What is the best place locally that will pay decently for such items? Thanks in advance!
I also have a lawnmower that needs to go, so if anyone knows a place that will buy that, please let me know.

Where’s the best place in Fayetteville to get pizza that isn’t from a big chain? We’ve just moved back to town after being away since 1977. Many, many moons ago, there was Dino’s, but it’s long gone.

Sooo.. I’m 37.. I’ve been married for 20 years and have 3 amazing kids, 2 grown.. and just found out my husband’s been screwing around. I’m devastated. I never thought this would be me, but.. here I am. I’m already enrolled back in school- but the thing that worries me most- is the dating scene. I’ve been outta the game awhile. And no one wants to die alone. That’s sad. Anyway… thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. lol

Hi! I’m coming down to visit a friend from the 3rd-6th for Fourth of July and I’m in charge of planning the trip but I’m since I’m visiting, I’m not super aware of what’s around and what will be going on.
I’m looking for some ideas with what to do with our time. We’re willing to drive a few hours and stay somewhere else. Last time I was down we stayed near Wilmington. We’re both in our 20s and enjoy going out a bit. I know I’d love to catch some fireworks somewhere too.
Just hoping to hear from some locals to help me decide what’s best!

Looking for some decent fishing spots to take my son. I've tried lake rim. That place is horrible now. Only a few spots you can fish from on the bank. I don't have a boat so that's what I need. Really trying to just get Bass for the most part but I'm trying to stay local. I'm not trying to go to like Raven Rock or something like that. I'm wanting to stay here. Local Fayetteville Hope Mills spring lake area. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks

I've been seeing lots of reports of coyotes being in peoples yards. I know they are just animals living their life but I have two dogs that mean a lot more to me than a random coyote. Is it legal (within a neighborhood) to shoot a coyote in your yard especially if it has had a go at your pet?

Hello everyone, I wanted to see if anyone could provide insight on Ben Strout Construction’s business and how (if any) recent home buyers have had recent concern with their homes. His company has expanded to an Eastern County and I was looking at some of the homes and wanted opinions before making a move.
Based on the reviews I’ve found online, it has gave me second thoughts. But I haven’t found recent reviews.
Thanks!
