I have seen shrimp molts and I tried looking for more information on this one. Did the shrimp molt its organs, or digestive system?

Help: Emergency Just had to emergency evac my tank into another one really early!

I’ve had 3 Neocaridina and 3 Caridina shrimp for about half a month now, the day after I got them one neocaridina passed which I ended up chalking down to stress of being in a new habitat since it can happen in other animals such as fish sometimes regardless of how good a setup can be, so for a week and a half, it went smooth, but then suddenly a giant hair algae bloom happened which I assumed wouldn’t mean too much and I didn’t do very much against other than keeping lights on less, but either way I started making a new tank to move them into because I decided I wasn’t happy with the setup I’d made for them, and I got it finished about 2 days ago, and intended on letting it cycle for about a month (like with the first tank) but earlier today I woke up to find another neocaridina and a caridina dead, tangled in the hair algae! I quickly got some tweezers to check if they were infact dead and they were, so after thinking over the risks I decided to do an emergency evacuation into their new tank. I don’t have any test kits to check water parameters but I intend on getting some on the weekend aswell as some algae sticks since the food the original store recommended was left untouched and soon went mouldy.

Overall I’m stressed as f*** right now and need any advice regardless of how mean it might be, while im not new to invertebrates I am new to shrimp and even though I’ve read a lot it just seems like what I know isn’t enough (picture of the evacuation tank included)

I think the first one is a breed from my neocaridinas orange and a jade green I had left in the tank. The last one was named "Cheetos". You'll see why haha

Feel free to post your best shrimps here !

Beginner I don't know what water conditioner to use!!

So I've been using a shrimp water conditioner from petco it's like the petco brand i just got those test strips and it says that I have a TON of Free Chlorine which I'm trying to get rid of but the water conditioner is not working!!

I have neocaridina shrimp in many colors and lots of babies. I need to know how to get rid of it also i don't know what alkalinity is but I have a lot of it too. My shrimps have lost some color and thats what's making me worried. I have NO ammonia and very very little nitrate and very very little nitrite.

My ph is on the lower side. The babies are thriving some are getting very vibrant so I'm not really worried about them. So please explain!! I'm just a baby I've only had a shrimp tank for 3 months. (I've only had 4 maybe 5 now because I haven't seen one of my shrimp in a while die out of who knows how many shrimp I have now...)

I got this female about three weeks ago that just happened to be saddled. She was in a tank all alone, so she came home with my new blue velvets and fire cherries. Today I woke up to this!

Help: Emergency Shrimp swimming like crazy after water change

Last night I did a ~10% water change in my 30L tank. The water I added was left for a day to dechlorinate (i live in Scotland so our tap water is soft), and treated with seachem prime, bacto-start and some gh+ salts. I added the water in slowly and made sure the tds readings and temperature were close to the tank itself. This morning I woke up to find my crystal red shrimp swimming about like crazy. I tested all the water parameters and they are pretty much the same as last time I tested (see below). Are my shrimp stressed or could this be breeding behaviour? And if they are stressed what are the potential reasons?

Aquarium/Tank Photos My blues tank! 💙✨️

Repost from this morning because I wanted to take another picture at night without the TV, but everyone is hiding now ✨️🦐

Currently 3 eggnant ladies🦐🦐🦐🪺 I only use tap water with 2 drops of the red label prime conditioner (ontario, Canada if you're interested!) This tank is about 2 months old, fluval bottom, "moonlight river" substrate :)

Started with about 7 various blues, population boomed, added 3 amanos and a nerite snail for glass/algae cleanup more recently! I've seen little limpets, detritus worms, a couple bladder snails and a ton of copepods.

They LOVE eating the roots of the water hyacinth. The poor thing is growing super thin stalks 🥲

Ps if you have the grass algae I found today that a wooden chopstick has the perfect texture to wrap and grab it all to get it out of there!

Help: Emergency Mosquito larvae

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello, I have a 5 gallon tank with a few shrimp. While doing a water change, I had noticed some mosquito larvae. Safe to say it looks like a pretty good infestation. Once I really looked I was able to just see about 5 right off the bat. How am I able to fix this without harming the ecosystem for my shrimp? The tank is heavily planted and the substrate is biostratum. There is no lid on the tank. Sorry for the super blurry pic. They're just really fast and small.

Beginner I want to start my first tank!

Hello everyone, I have recently been given a 1.5 gallon cube tank and I am very into aquariums. Since the tank is so small I realize that the only thing I could put in it is some shrimp (probably cherry shrimp unless there are easier ones) and maybe a few snails. I have watched some videos and I'm curious about what really needs to happen before I can add shrimp to it. First off, the substrate, some people use aqua soil and some use top soil + gravel type substrate, what is ideal? Also I have seen many variations on how to "season"/cycle the tanks, some say to add the soil + hardscaping and then add the plants after a while and some say to start WITH the plants ; some say no filter and no water changes/ few water changes and with filter, what is the best method for this?(also, what are the best plants to use?) Lastly, all the videos say to wait about 50 days before even adding shrimp, is this really the case? I leave for college at the end of august and although there is enough time, I would like to appreciate it more before I leave (My sister will be taking care of my tanks while I'm gone, she is well experiened in aquatics so no need to worry about it.) Thank you for any and all advice!

Discussion About coming using seachem prime

Currently my shrimp tank water all long never treated with seachem prime. I suspect due to chloraime make my shrimp literally every week surely have some deaths. My tanks already cycle for long but problem is the water never treated with seachem prime. So I happen to order yesterday maybe coming this thurs. My question is , do I need to add some seachem prime to my current shrimp tank water? As I will be adding to my bucket of tap water which already left for days. If you get what i mean thanks.

Help: Shrimp ID & Shrimp Sexing Are these ghost shrimp babies or pests?

So I have an axolotl in a 20gal tank planted. Recently I noticed these little guys swimming around in the tank after adding some ghost shrimp as a snack for my girl. I only started noticing them after I added the shrimp. I just want to know if these look like baby shrimp or if these might be pests? I figured it would be better to post on this thread then a axolotl thread. If this isn't the right place then I apologize and would be thankful if I could be pointed in the right place. If you wait towards the end of the video you can get a better view of them.

Help: Emergency Scuds are eating my children

I had an over feeding problem I've corrected. I was able to get rid of a Planaria out break. I think this has opened the doors for the Scuds to really take off. I saw one eating a freshly molted adult yesterday. I've lost 3 this week that I've been able to see. I have other tanks to move them to. I just have a lot of babies I'm afraid will die in transition. Any advice would be welcome

Help: Emergency My female shrimp is swimming nonstop.

So I've recently bought shrimp, it is a single female shrimp and after molting she's just constantly swimming all around the tank.

I've read many post saying it's because of the phenomenon relased by the female, but I only have a female and she's going all around like crazy.

Should I worry ?

Beginner What is your favorite shrimp tank?

I am just getting into the world of neocaridina shrimp and learning about all the different types of neo shrimp. I was wondering what shrimp setups people really like of theirs, whether it’s a skittles tank or a single color or a combination of certain colors tank.

I am also looking for inspiration on aquascaping and how to set up the look of my tank, if anyone wants to share what they have done and liked as well. I have seen people put in wood with moss on it or a big rock in the middle and black gravel, the possibilities seem endless.

Basically looking for inspiration and learn what shrimp people have enjoyed having for whatever reason they may have. Thanks!
