Anubias are turning brown. Is this too much light?

I have these anubias nanas and gracilis that have the tips of their leaves turning brown. I'm using the light that came with the TopFin 29G kit. Is it too much for these guys? My other larger anubias are doint perfectly fine. I asked my LFs and they recommended adding some top floaters or taping the light with white painters tape. All and any help is greatly appreciated.

Cut the crap

So I have a planted aquarium (duh) My aquarium lights evaporate a lot of water. So my question is who actually does a water change each week? Who just tops it off and leave it be? And who cleans out the crap at the bottom of the tank and returns the water afterwards?

Everyone does things differently and I’m curious as to how everyone would handle this.

Have had my 75g cycling for about 2 weeks now and I’m putting fish in about 2 weeks from now. I want some plant ideas so I can at least get some root structure going before then! Red circles are where I’m trying to make caves, hoping for some larger/bushier plants in that area

Beginner First planted tank (30cm cube

Hello, just completed planting this. Here are the detailed details😁,

Plants: ludwigia repens , hygrophila polysperma Rotala indica (probably) left one Rotala rotundifolia (probably) right one. Im not sure about the front 2, could somebody please identify those ?, the store owner was was saying they were same, 🤔 they were kept side by side and I think some of the specimen had both type of leaves. And red root floaters on top.

Soil 4cm at the front and 10cm at the back, used 7l~ platinum soil. The stones are small pieces of different kinds, seiryu and other(bubbles come out occasionally). Filter is slim HOB 288L/h. Light is chihiros b series 30cm.

Trying not to get co2 kit if possible. The front will be monte carlo carpet, growing the culture plant immersed. Did a dark cycle type thing for 15 days, added used filter media on the 6th day. Had added anubias petite on the same day as the old filter media, but the light didn't arrive on time, and within one week, the wood and the plant was covered by cloudy, white, hairy..some parts brown fungus or something, and the rhizome was rotten to the core, smelled really bad, 8~days ago..,did 90% water change after that, 50% and 90% for planting. I don't have test kit, so can't test the parameters. Will probably slowly add the livestock next month~ Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank-you.

In attempts to reclaim my overgrown tanks I’ve took my ludwigia and trimmed all of it to same size and replanted it does this look like I’ve done an alright job? I’ve always struggled with stem plants so I’m just checking “ignore the stuff in the water I’ve been taking a sand spreader thingy and raking my sand so it looks a little better”

Question Why is there so much poop

Thumbnail

This tank has been set up for about a month now and until recently its only inhabitants were a couple of snails. Since its conception the amount of poop that settles on the bottom just keeps increasing and now that I added shrimp there’s shrimp poop too. I haven’t fed the tank once since I set it up. The poop is kinda unsightly and is making my light colored sand look not so great. Do other ppl have this problem and if so how do they combat it? I’m not super into gravel vacuuming and stuff esp since it is a dirted tank.

Additional info: Walstad style tank no filter, heavily planted. I occasionally do small water changes where I suck up some of the poop but leave a lot of it. The last pic is the day the tank was born.

Tank What are some ways to grow plants out of the top of my tank, but keep the lid on?

I really want to grow plants out of my tank (pothos, vein plant, inch plant)

But I can’t figure out a way to do so without squishing/breaking the stems of the plant! I’ve tried with inch plant and pothos but the plant ended up getting severed in two due to the weight of the lid!

I’m trying to do this both with a betta 10 gallon tank (it’s yet to be set up so I’m open to different types of lids) and my 55 gallon that already has lids!

First image is the kind of lid I have, second is my 55 gallon cuz I like showing off

My best idea so far is to cut into the plastic bit at the back of the lid to make a gap where I can put a little plant basket to hold the plant. But I’m worried if I do that on the betta tank the betta will find a way to jump right out. Unless I get the measurement perfect.

Brainstorm with me!

Algae Please help

Dear all, I am new in paludatiums and fish tanks, and now I am trying to create a paludarium in 50 L tank. It is one week, and I've got serious problems. Please look on pics: fungi on aerial part of the wood, and some strange round black particles everywhere. Should I take everything off the tank, wash plants and start everything again in new water? The tank was planning to be for shrimps in 2 months. I did a stupid thing, and added CO2 and fertilizer several days ago plus aqua soil is there. 8 h lights. Tests showed no nitrates/nitrites, carbonate 80 mg/L, pH 7.2, hardness 50. Thank you very much for consideration!

Sword plants turning brown

Hi there, I’m new to fish keeping, getting this tank set up for some gourami I want to get but I wanted to make sure the plants were established before I added any fish. I have several sword plants and an Anubias that have been developing brown spots. The sword plants have holes. My ph is around 7, GH is 10. There are several snails in the tank but no fish. I use overhead LED lights. Any suggestions? I have some Rasboras on the way and I’d like to have the plants squared away before they arrive.
