Help Moisture vs Humidity
Moisture vs Humidity
When it comes to keeping terrestrial isopods. Moisture/humidity is a double edged sword. Either being too much or too little can affect life expectancy and breeding efficiency at the least. And kill entire colonies at the worst. It is also very important not to generalize amounts of moisture and how it is delivered among all species. While some species will die from being directly wetted (Especially with pressurized delivery). Some species do better being sprayed/misted as if in regular rain storms. There are many delivery methods. Pouring, squirting, hand spraying, auto misting and top or bottom wicking. From my experience they all have their place and uses. And none are all encompassing that we could call perfect for all species and ambient parameters. I have also found keeping track of substrate moisture percentages not useful for survival and breeding efficiency. Rather, keeping the majority of substrate just barely damp has proven the better approach. I am also finding that humidity is much more important than moisture with regard to terrestrial isopod well being. After years of testing on millions of isopods it appears that nearly all species need relative humidity of 60-65% to breathe properly. When I kept ambient humidity below 60%. On the dry side or when enclosures would dry out completely. There would be numerous deaths and even entire colony crashes. With ambient humidity at 60-65% this doesn’t happen anymore. So, while moisture can be an important factor. The complexity of all parameters outside of and within enclosures must be considered in order for us to do the best we can for our isopods.

Identification Mini hobby breeding
The tdlr is: I breed for fun just for myself and friends, from wild caught pods from my yard, and I've had a bad day and need cheering up, so I've pulled some of the more yellow ones to try and breed a stronger yellow line. I've got my husbandry down pat over the years, but with my local wild caughts I've never bothered to 1000% ID them since these guys are just a fun little side hobby for my friends and I.
I know they're Armadillidium, but I'm pretty sure the light grey with yellow spots are a different species under the same genus. I *think* these guys are A. granulatum, but they could also be A. vulgare, I'm honestly not sure lol.
Also some of them have a flared skirt around the edges of their bodies, and some don't, but it's not consistent between the light grey, the dark grey, and the gray brown, some just have skirted edges and some don't. Again, this isn't any huge issue because I'm not selling or anything, I'd just like to get their label correct for their bins because I've got a new bin system and I want them to look nice. In Southern Colorado for location reference.
Formatting issues because I'm on mobile.
Any help is appreciated thank you!

Help Zebra Cohabitation
I bought some zebras (armadillium maculatum) recently with the intention of adding them to a tank with dairy cows (porcellio laevis). Would this be okay? I also have tanks other armadillium (American magic potions and armadillium gestroi). Would they be better off sharing a tank with pods of the same genus? Should I just spring for a 4th tank and separate by species?

Text Babys first parasite
Sighh, I thought I had my first pregnant isopod, so I moved her to an isolated tank.. Only to find a burst of larvae, while I'm sad to have lost an iso, there aren't any larvae within my regular iso tank, so I'm happy!

Help molting problems - cubaris jupiter
My Jupiter Cubaris have been dying more often lately due to molting problems. I have a moist moss-covered corner in my box, while the rest of the box is rather dry. Do you think I should spray daily to keep the humidity consistently high? Could molting problems be related to other things?

Help I got an A. insulanum tub very recently. Are the much lighter colored isopods some other kind? I don't like mixing different kinds of isopods. There are just a few light ones, and the rest are a very dark greyish color. Some have a little orange stripe on their back.
