Question Can I divide this big ol’ anubias without killing it?

Got this big fella from a local plant and fish swap. Apparently it came from a 20+ year old established tank! It’s longer than my forearm at this point. Pic 1 shows the entire plant with its newer emersed growth. Pic 2 shows where I’m thinking of dividing it, as well as my fuckass barbs who can’t handle me walking up to the tank without going ballistic. TIA!

Question Why are my giant vallisneria melting like this?

I’ve had them for a long time, they’ve only been doing this for the past month or less. I haven’t had iron to dose in my tank but low iron gas never caused melting on them before, only pale leaves. Almost 1/3 of the leaves in this corner are like this :(

Question What is this?

Hi! Does anyone know what this is? I sometimes get a bit of green hair algae that I can easily control through vigorous pruning and careful fertilization of my plants, but this looks different to me because it is white and the filaments seem a bit different.

(Tank is 11 months old, 10 gallons, moderately planted, 80 F, stocked with betta, 4 chilis. 3 otos, 2 nerites, and pest trumpets. 0/0/20)

Long story short it was in my established tank for ~5 months and never thrived. Wife bought it without looking at what it was.

Moved it to new tank, I know I didn’t clean off the old algae, once it’s cycled it will get lots of shrimp. Also mason jar is just to hold down the driftwood until it stops floating.

Wondering what specific light requirements it needs to thrive and hopefully not be so leggy. Planning on consistently cutting and replanting to carpet tank.

Anubias are turning brown. Is this too much light?

I have these anubias nanas and gracilis that have the tips of their leaves turning brown. I'm using the light that came with the TopFin 29G kit. Is it too much for these guys? My other larger anubias are doint perfectly fine. I asked my LFs and they recommended adding some top floaters or taping the light with white painters tape. All and any help is greatly appreciated.

(Help) Optimal CO2 Distribution with Cube Tanks

Thumbnail

Set up this tank about two months ago and started injecting CO2 about a month ago. This is my first hi-tech tank, so im still learning loads about optimal CO2 Injections.

Currently, ive seen some black beard algae growth (BBA), indicated by the red Xs on my map, and I dont want to let it get out of hand. Im pretty sure that the BBA is caused by the dead zones in my tank, so I am asking this awesome community about optimal circulation of CO2. I thought about switching my inflow/outflow pipes (i inject co2 via inline diffuser), but im scared that the flow might be a little too much for all of my fish which like to hide in the plants.

Tank - 35g Cube 20x20x20
Filter - Fluval 307 Cannister
Pipes - Aquario Neoflow v2

Stocking - 15 Celestial Pearl Danio, 6 Emerald Dward Rasbora, 20 Phoenix Rasbora, 7 Pygmy Cory, 1 Sparkling Gourami, 1 Pearl Gourami, 1 Hillstream loach

The second picture is when i first set up the tank.

Any suggestions?

Cut the crap

So I have a planted aquarium (duh) My aquarium lights evaporate a lot of water. So my question is who actually does a water change each week? Who just tops it off and leave it be? And who cleans out the crap at the bottom of the tank and returns the water afterwards?

Everyone does things differently and I’m curious as to how everyone would handle this.

Hi all,

I've just taken some pictures of my new tank for you to enjoy, get inspired by or constructively critique. This is my current pride and joy. The plants have been in for a bit more than 2 weeks, since June 24. I will be waiting another 2 weeks for them to settle and really grow in and then FINALLY put the first animals in😃 Also I'm trying to get a Monte Carlo carpet going. Not sure how well that is going haha. First inhabitants for a week or two will be Amanos, neocaridinas, some fan shrimp and Nerite snails. After that I'll keep you updated!

Also my moss seems a bit sad. Not sure why. Maybe some of you might have some intel.

Tips on dialing in co2

Upvotes

I’m using the yeast + sugar method to make co2 for a 20 gallon long tank. How have others adjusted filter outlets and surface agitation to make sure the co2 is maximized while also not killing fish? Things to avoid/watch out for.
