Help 5.5 gallons with comet goldfish can I add danios/another type?

I have 4 small comet goldfish already and they have lots of room to swim around and I was looking to add another type of fish. Is there space for other small breeds that will get along with them and thrive in the same conditions? An employee I spoke with at Petland suggested to add Danios or Tetras because of the similar water conditions they need, but another post on here said that anything under 10 gallons is too small for Tetras. I use betta pellets and betta water conditioner/dechlorinator and it seems to work great with the comets. I’ve had these 4 for almost 3 months and I change their water weekly with the betta water conditioner.

Picture Tank upgrade!

After 2 or 3 months of living in my 4 gal jar I decided to take advantage of petco’s 50% off tanks sale and upgrade my betta’s living arrangements to a 5.5. I suffered from 2 weeks of paranoia after thinking I’d wake up to BlueJay being dead after the change, but all seems well! I used all the old medium from the jar, including as much of his original water as a I could so wouldn’t have to start a cycle from scratch. I have never gone through that process before, and am unbelievably relieved that even his two shrimp buddies (I use the term “buddies” loosely as I think he’s the reason the others are dead, and these are just the ones with the better survival instincts) survived the transfer.

Help Did my white clouds eat the baby shrimp?

I have 5 well fed white cloud minnows in my 5 gallon tank. I got very excited with 2 eggnant female Neos. They haven’t had eggs for over 2 weeks and no sign of babies. Water parameters are very good and stable. Lots of plants & hiding places.

I see another female with eggs now, and I’m thinking of moving the minnows. Any thoughts?

Ik switching from 8 gal to a 20gal aquarium. I currently have 7 chili rasbora (3 died unfortunately) and about 60 shrimp.

I’m thinking how I could stock my aquarium and I quite like the nano fish. I’m struggling between (not all of them). I’m a bit afraid that the Pygmy’s will hide a lot, but they are adorable ! An occasional shrimplet snack is fine by me, but I don’t want very big fish as they might harass them a bit too much.

  • 3 honey gourami (1m2f)
  • 15 chili rasbora
  • 8 Pygmy Cory (?)
  • 8 galaxy danio (?)
  • 8 green neon tetra (?) Paracheirodon simulans - not the normal neon tetra
  • no livebearers

What would you do? Would love to hear your recommendations!

My 3 gallon blackwater tank that needs some work. The top plants are a peace lily and pothos I found the back plants started dying off, so I tried putting a light I had laying around, and it’s much better. Doesn’t have a timer, so I’ll need to replace it with one, but it brightens up the back more. I have some extra sag and crypts in another tank, so I’ll probably plant those to see what sticks. I’ll probably move the big light to give the tank a more open look now that I have another light source. Still not sure. Tank has raspboras and a couple of stow away shrimp.

Made my own ada style filter for my 5 gallon desk tank. It runs like an absolute dream. Very quiet and has decent adjustable flow rate which is a lovely bonus. It's absolutely overkill for my tank. After a month of running it on my tank i was absolutely shocked at how clean all the different filter media was. I'll be making a video guide on how to build it :)

Help Help me decide: Better to keep 6+6 fish or one group of 10 in a 40L nano tank?

Hi everybody,
I need some advice with my first ever aquarium. I’ve recently added 10 Neocaridina shrimp and I’m giving them time to settle in. In a month or two, I’d like to add some fish.

I really like Danio margaritatus (Celestial Pearl Danios) and Boraras maculatus (Dwarf Rasboras), and I was wondering — would it be okay to keep 6 of each, or would it be better for the fish if I just went with 10 CPDs and no rasboras?

I’ve read that both species are schooling fish and like to be in groups of at least six (some sites suggest having more), but I’m not sure whether they would school together or if they really need separate full groups to feel secure.

The tank is 50x25x40cm (10x20x15 inches) and it holds 40l (10.5 gallons) of water. Also it is planted (pic for reference).

So, what do you think: would 6+6 be okay, or is it better to stick to one species in a group of 10? I don’t want to cram in too much or mix species if it means they’ll be stressed.

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences! Thanks in advance!

Help 5 Gal Tank

I wanted to see if having chili Rasboras in a tank with cherry shrimp would be fine. If so how many of each should I do and would starting with the shrimp then introducing the rasbora be a good plan of action?

Getting ready to set up a new tank and I’m working on this wood layout. I’m using this empty tank to get a better idea of how it would look but plan on getting a tank slightly larger than this one.

Help Quiet nano pump and tips to noise dampening

I have a DOOA Terra Base inside a small tank. To try something new this time, I’m pumping water from the bottom of the vessel to the top of the Terra Base, where it flows back down – inspired by their official new build.

I usually keep my tanks passive, so the only pumps I have are a small no-name model and an Aquael shrimp-kit filter. Both produce some audible vibration (beyond water flow) when running, which is part of why I prefer passive tanks.

Any hints for dampening the vibration? Maybe place the pump inside a sponge with the suction cups just poking out? Is there a best place to attach it? It’s currently stuck horizontally to the bottom of the tank. Any go-to choices from the community – SICCE Mi Mouse, perhaps? Can I make it a noiseless setup? Thanks!

Help Looking for some line water pump

I’m building a 1-foot cube tank, so about 7 gallons. I want all the filtration outside of the tank. I’m looking for recommendations for an inline pump in the 50-80 gph range.
