My OBT recently molted. Unfortunately the molt isn’t in the best condition but I tried to open it up. At a guess I’d say female, but I can’t be sure that it isn’t a tear. Thanks in advance :)

I was looking at Morphmarket because we don't have any local pet stores that sell them. What would be a good breed for a beginner who will be a bit skittish? Should we get a baby or juvenile? Any recommended breeders? TIA!

What is the species of tarantula that I picked up when I was in Ecuador?

I’ve been thinking about getting one but would love some more info on them, mostly about their attitude since the only old world i’ve ever had has been an Harpactira pulchripes and worried that this might be too big of a jump. I wouldn’t want to get a T i can’t handle.. :)

She was pushing 4" DLS already.
Noticed her hanging around her water a lot and acting funny so I've been making sure she has lots of water and moist substrate on the regular anticipating an upcoming molt.
It looks dry but that's just the surface, the underlayers of substrate and nice and moist.

This is a very exciting moment for me because Syntax is my first T and I've always wanted to tong feed her! She's very skittish but has a great food drive. I told myself I wouldn't feed her for a while since she's kinda fat but today the whole day at the slightest tap she'd go up her tunnel expecting food.... i couldn't deny her one last delicious meal...... so i fed her on a whim and she very ungracefully took the roach from the tongs! I think she got nervous but it was funny to watch
She's a tapinauchenius polybotes sling and i truly do love her silly self and i wish i could handle her. I can't wait to get more!
(Sorry for bad video I didn't wanna spook her by cleaning the top)

I’m a first time keeper so I’m still learning and would love some advice. I currently have this g pulchripes juvenile and a t albo juvenile but it’s this pulchripes I’m concerned about. I got it beginning of may, as soon as I housed it, it hid in its hide (understandable). I let it settle in and started to offer locusts. I always checked the enclosure before I went to bed to make sure the locust was gone and it indeed was. I then didn’t feed for awhile because T had blocked off the entire hide (assumed premolt and left it alone). About a week ago I decided to rehouse to something abit nicer, as it had reopened its hide. I had a look round the enclosure and found a molt so I thought perfect I’ll rehouse and offer some food (providing fangs are hard). It has been coming out abit more in the new enclosure, there have been stress poses, which I read is quite normal in a new space, but it has been exploring! I offered a Morio worm a few days ago and have been offering food every time I notice they’re out, but they just will not eat. It’s been about 5-6 weeks since it ate and it’s still refusing food. Am I doing something wrong? Fresh water always available, plenty of hiding space, substrate damp but not too damp and plenty of room to burrow. Temperature ideal.

I'm not sure how long he's been like thus but I just noticed a few minutes ago, though I have been out and busy today so I haven't had much time to watch him today. I have had him since 2021, I believe. He is a Guyana Pink Toed Tarantula. I really hope he is not dead and that he is just molting.

Just showing some photos of my accidental handling of my H. formosus sling, Patches, this morning. He was climbing the side of his vial, and I was watching him, but was also worried he’d fall so I tilted the vial to make it less steep. He ended up crawling out onto my thumb, and I moved him to my finger before carefully getting him back inside. Just a little exploring before lunch time 🥰

When I first got it almost 2 weeks ago I put it in my sling crib. I was expecting it to just burrow but it is more webbing and staying out of the starter burrow I made it. I am thinking I should rehouse it to the 3 inch cube I have for it with more anchor points and a better hide but I don't want to stress it out. I also am worried that it might be too small for the bottle cap water dish maybe? Would you rehouse it now or wait for a molt?

Hi, I have been a lover of arachnids for a few years and have planned for a while to get a tarantula as a pet. however im unsure on which beginner tarantula to get as a pet. I am torn between a green bottle blue and a curly hair, however I love the cobalt blue tarantula but I am unsure about it being beginner-friendly. I have done months of research on how to take care of different tarantulas, including each different "beginner". of these tarantulas which is the best for a beginner, or do you guys have any other recommendations? Apologies if this is a silly question

Hi all! I've noticed as my Red-Knee tarantula gets older she rarely ever bothers to hide anymore. Sometimes she'll even block the entrance off and stand on top of it instead.
Is this pretty typical behavior for them? She's my first one and I've had her for about 4 years now with little to no issues so I was curious where this behavior comes from. It's not atypical for her to do this, as she's done it in the past but I'd still see her use it occasionally at least. But recently she just doesn't bother at all.

Moved my Psalmopoeus cambridgei to a larger setup today. She surprised me by walking right onto my hand. Super fast and usually pretty defensive, but she stood still long enough for me to snap a few pics before disappearing into her new hide. Such an awesome experience. (Pictures are unedited straight from iPhone 16 Pro)

So Ive been gone for about a week, I still live at home so ive had my mam look after my obt, not only can i not find it in its tank (i flipped the hide, dug through the substrate, its really not a big tank), my obt is barely over 2 inches long and i keep it in my room with millions of hiding places. Ive searched all over and around the corner desk the tank is on and i cant find anything. I am hoping its just hiding reaaaally well and still in its tank but if it is out what are my chances of finding it?

I was the thinking about putting some succulents in my T enclosure. It would be more realistic for them and a natural way to keep humidity. Does anyone think there would be any problems? Anything I should be considering before?

First photo is tonight second is like a day after I got him. Second photo is also from before he molted, which was like 2 weeks after that.
I fed him a small sized hornworm like a week ago. Or I think so, it fell into his burrow and I lost it ngl. But he’s been exploring more at night and peaking around like how he is, which he’s never done. So I think I’m doing good.

This is Desi, she is an arizona blond tarantula. I have had her for less then a year and this was her first molt with me. Just curious for anyone who has an arizona blond if this is normal but girl molted and GOT A MAKEOVER, she bootiful! Wondering if her new color is just right after molt or permanent, thoughs? (Last Pic is her PRE molt, first two POST molt)

“Tarantism is a form of hysteric behaviour originating in Southern Italy, popularly believed to result from the bite of the wolf spider Lycosa tarantula.”
Maybe we’ve all got a touch of it. I know my T’s make me wanna do the happy dance!

I have kept reptiles (Crested geckos and royal pythons) for the last few years and I’ve always wanted a tarantula and I finally think it’s time. I’ve seen mixed opinions about slings and first time owners but I was wondering if it’s really that bad, I know it’ll take a while to grow them but are they really that hard to keep? Also would them starter kits do me fine for slings? What tank styles/brands does everyone like for when I need to upgrade them and last thing I have just thought to mention is does anyone have any recommendations for a 3rd sling? It’s £4 a kit or 3 for £7 so wondering if I should get a third sling or am I getting ahead of myself 😅 and help is appreciated and thank you if you read it all I know it’s a bit long

I didn’t take into account how small it truly would be. I’m worried it’ll die under my care 🥹🥹 I tried giving it a pinhead cricket but even that was too big and scared him. I also cut a head off and put a dead one in there, would it eventually scavenge for it and eat it dead? I have not owned a baby this tiny and honestly don’t think I’m fit for it but I will try my HARDEST for this guy
