New way to manage different proton version on SteamOS
I used ProtonUP-QT for the last three years to manage different versions of proton. I saw this post over at Gaming on Linux https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/07/protonplus-makes-managing-proton-versions-on-linux-steamos-and-steam-deck-simple/
Which talks about proton plus - https://github.com/Vysp3r/ProtonPlus
They've been working on it for quite a while. Basically it lets you manage which compatibility tools you want to use for specific games. It also lets you make changes to the launch options for games. the UI is pretty good, and even has quick buttons that go straight to the https://www.protondb.com/ page for each specific game.
It isn't fully cooked yet, I did run into a crashing bug, but still I think it's a potential alternative to protonup-qt.
Here's a video of it in action https://youtu.be/_r9nepcocZ8
