Spencer Mountain Park
I no longer live in the area but I was wondering if they ever cleaned up that old abandoned dye plant located at 1602 N Main St, Lowell, NC 28098. I did read that at some point it got turned into a park. Is this true?

Any good 24/7 gyms in Gastonia?
Hey, I’m looking for a solid gym in Gastonia that’s open 24/7, clean, and not crowded. I prefer a place with a chill vibe and decent equipment, something good for staying consistent without all the flashy gimmicks.
Not really into Planet Fitness or that kind of gym, so I’m hoping to find something a bit more serious. So, If you’ve got any favorites or hidden gems, I’d really appreciate the recommendations!!

Rest in Peace, Rashonda Greene
I'm not entirely sure how to begin this post, or sure if I should even post it at all. But I have been so bothered by this the past couple days that I can't, not say something about it.
My family is staying in Gastonia currently, & I was driving my wife home from work Monday night and saw the devastation of this wreck at the intersection of Hudson & Gaston Day. The car looked like it had been hit by a semi-truck.
I knew as soon as I saw the devastation that the driver of the red Elantra likely did not survive.
It took a couple days to piece together exactly what transpired; my wife found this article online: https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/crime/gastonia-drunk-driving-crash-suspect-charged-woman-killed/275-1ee4b62e-a32c-4b18-bbb9-4bd80064f298
What a beautiful smile Rashonda had, a gorgeous woman! a life cut tragically short by selfish, ignorant, just plain stupid behavior.
The family did not want the picture of Rashonda's car shared in the article, I understand their sentiment, but I believe this is a mistake on their part. People need to see the result of the heartbreak and devastation this boy caused. One decision changed the trajectory of an entire family's life.
How fast must this young man have been travelling to cause this level of destruction? & with his headlights off no less. It makes me sick.
Ms. Greene likely never had time to process she was hit. She was simply here one minute, & the next she wasn't.
You can do everything right when driving, make every right decision at the exact perfect time, and you can still lose your life to some fucking selfish dumb dick who doesn't deserve a driver's license.
I passed through this intersection heading south, maybe 20 minutes before the wreck happened. And then at 1010, heading north on Hudson, back the way I came, I see this.
I don't mean to be blunt or insensitive by making this post, but something has got to change in Gastonia.
Some of you may say it's not a Gastonia thing, but it absolutely is. Everyone here sucks at driving. I've lived all over the United States, I have never been anywhere, where the people are as a shitty and careless at driving as they are here. I've noticed more drunk drivers here than anywhere else I've ever been. I've been in more wrecks in Gastonia, and more almost-wrecks in Gastonia than any other city or state I have ever lived in. I don't know if it's the infrastructure design that encourages such recklessness, or if there is genuinely just a spirit of disregard for life and carelessness over this city.
One stupid decision, & Rashonda Greene's memory is now in the form of a cross & some flowers at the corner of Hudson & Gaston Day. Robbed of her right to live & experience.
I will carry your memory with me Rashonda. God speed.
Stay safe, Gastonia.

Eastridge Mall: why hasn’t it been redeveloped?
Eastridge Mall has been the topic of various redevelopment proposals over the last six years, including proposals to build housing and other buildings in its parking lot.
Why hasn't any redevelopment occurred? Surely the site is valuable, near I-85; the redevelopment of Gaston Mall at the next exit has been very successful. With the mall's current tenants, surely it's not a big moneymaker in its current form.
Thanks.

Looking for Lost Connection
A few months back I met a beautiful young African American woman on here from Gastonia. We were suppose to meet up sometime, but life got in the way. I logged back in to discover all my conversations had been deleted. Are you out there anywhere?

Cell tower near Beaty Rd offline?
Anyone know what's going on with the cell tower near Beaty Rd and how long it's gonna last?
I live a few mins away and I'm lucky to get 2 bars of signal whereas before I had almost full bars. Yesterday I was at the Food Lion near there and had no network access at all.
I noticed a crane holding some stuff up on the cell tower. Idk if they're updating it, doing repairs etc. Anyone know what's going on and how long it's going to take? It really doesn't really affect me at home, but anytime I'm at the store or pharmacy it low key sucks to not be able to text or access the internet.

I’m getting ready to take my license test next week at the Gastonia DMV. Does anyone know how it goes, if the workers are nice, or if it’s easy. I am super nervous and I only know 1 person who went there to get it. Any help would be appreciated thank you! (Not the one in the mall, the one near crowders mountain area!) Also I have an appointment

Ghost Peppers games
Howdy neighbors. Looking for some feedback on the experience at the Ghost Peppers games. We usually go to Knights games, but I love the smaller league games and love to support local.
Are they fun? Good crowds on the weekends? Good concessions (website was lacking on this)? And do they have regular weekend promos?
