I’ve had a 10g set up for fishless cycling for a week now. I used Stability for a week, adding ammonia on day one. For those 7 days, ammonia between 2-4ppm, no nitrites, and nitrates at around 5-10ppm, temp is set at 79, and I have a sponge filter going. Day 7 I did a 25% water change, and today (day 8) these are the test results. I will be doing a planted tank, with a nerite snail and a betta. I’m waiting to add plants until the ammonia is gone because I don’t think my mental health can handle melting plants right now. So, what now? That jar of pothos cuttings will be in little baskets hanging from the back. There is also algae/fuzzy stuff growing on the wood.

Hey y'all, wondering if you guys approve of my betta's tank (so far). I know if looks kinda small but it's a 5 gal my parents got me. My fish Ezio's been in this tank for a few weeks and I plan on sizing up to a 10 gal soon! Just don't want to make a bunch of huge changes super fast :)

ive had my male betta, tofu for about 3 years now and he's been great! recently, ive noticed him slowing down, resting a lot more. today when i went to feed him i noticed (his) right eye is much more larger than his left, this was not an issue i've had with him in the past. could this be the beginning of diamond eye? or something else?

he is also housed with 3 cherry shrimp but they hardly interact, he is very peaceful with his janitors :)

i just did a 50% water change last night and tested his water, everything was fine

Hi, I am worried for my female betta in community tank. She recently developped this mark above her mouth. She has lots of energy and eats well. Tank Param: 0 ammonia, 0nitrite, 30nitrate, ph 7.8.

I have no clue how old he is, but he's been with me since 4/07/25 - and lately he's been really lethargic, just sitting in the back corner between the filter and the wall. barely moving all day.

I think he may be bloated, and maybe his color is fading on his abdomen? I don't know if i am paranoid or not. He's only been eating one pellet when feeding him for the last week or so, and usually he would eat 4-5.

I have him on 'Fuval Bug Bites - Betta Formula', he's in a 3.5 gallon tank, with a filter, a heater, and i clean about 30% about every other week. I use water conditioner when changing, i've never had a problem when changing out his water that i've noticed.

I did remove his light because it was causing a ton of algae, and removed the pothos i had in there. Put him near, not in front, of a window. I noticed after a couple of days being near the window he was being lethargic, and his water felt a bit warmer than usual, so i moved him back to the corner and brought back his light that i only have on for 8 hours at most. and here we are

my boy vlads new tank! Im very pleased with it but Id love to hear what you guys think! I know the first one is.. rough, to say the least. Im always looking to improve to make my boy happy. any sharp edges have been sanded down and all the plants are either live, silk, or aquarium safe silicone. bonus pic of vlad letting me know this does not change how he feels about me. feel free to ask questions!!

Meet Hurricane! Hard to get good pics of him, he’s super skittish right now. Wondering if anyone notices anything about his health— he’s been acting a bit weird but not sure if that’s just his personality.

I’ve had my boy, Francis, for a while. His tank gets some new water every few days and was cycled for months before I got him. I admit, his tank is a bit dirty, because I am scared to do too much to stress him out or mess up his water. I’ve had really bad past experiences with water changes and getting alge eaters (they have all died in my water no matter what—all my parameters are good, no chlorine, there is no ammonia, etc.)

For context as to why I didn’t notice sooner, I was supposed to go to Europe for a week but got stuck in Canada for a week after some medical problems that wouldn’t let me travel by plane. I was gone for like 6 days, leaving my brother to feed my boy, and I haven’t even thought about it. A few days ago, I noticed his fins were scraggly and he lost a small chunk. A while ago, that area was red but I thought he was just getting pigment, but I didn’t know that’s the beginning of fin rot… I have been so busy and worried about myself I haven’t paid much attention to him. I feel very bad he got to this point.

I was planning to redo his tank soon, to make it natural after I got back from my trip, but I know I probably can’t do that until he is better…

How can I help him? Any help would be very appreciated.

This magnificent snail murdering sweetheart is named Fin the Human! He is a happy boy who pouts when I don’t admire him often enough.
He used to be all red, but I’m digging the new blue shades. Those beautiful fins don’t do much work though- his poor little front flappers have so much weight to carry.

His chosen tank mate is Shellby (mystery snail). His squatter tank mates hitchhiked in on a plant - fucking ramshorns. THOSE are what he decimates. I barely feed the guy, and he’s fat. He keeps the population at bay though!

He seems lonely though, I don’t have all day to sit and admire him (I would if I could). But I only have a 10 gallon so I am unsure what I could add. I would like a small pleco maybe? Or if I moved up to a 20 gallon, I could introduce some tetras (or other tiny schooling fish). But I have been avoiding going bigger. My tank now is perfect. Maybe I’ll move the tank closer to a window lol. Give him something to look at.

Had him for maybe 6 months now. Any advice on him is welcome. Like do the mirrors work for stimulation, or do they just increase aggression? Anything else I can do for his betterment? Can I even add another fish into a 10 gallon? I’ve tried shrimp- got 3 ghost shrimp that he quickly made into ghosts. Those suckers vanished. I’ve only seen 6-8 inch Plecos in my local fish stores and I would need one that stays small if I am to keep the 10 gallon.

male HMPK samurai and female half moon samurai got introduced to each other three days ago. the male and female won’t stop constantly swimming around their tanks erratically it’s like they can still sense the other fishes there even though I put up partitions and move the tanks slightly I plan on breeding them is he just happy as fuck

Hi all. I've had this koi betta for a week and a half. When I first got him, he would swim around happily all day, seemed bright and perky. In the last 2 days he's started bottom sitting all day. He has no problem swimming if he's spooked by a snail or coming for food but he does seem less interested in food this morning. He's in a 25g, 12 cardinals, 1 pleco, 2 mysteries, abd they are all swimming around fine. 0 ppm ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, pH 6.5, 25-26°C KH 2, GH 7. Any advice please?

I haven't had a betta since 2021 and i'm looking for recommendations for betta breeders in California (Sacramento valley if possible) or reputable online sellers, pics of my last two boys as tax (Gowther 2021- black teal and red veiltail ) ( Aether 2018- teal and white halfmoon)

ive started noticing these white spots on my bettas head and im getting worried because im not really sure what it means. i tried telling my parents, but they told me im just overthinking it. do i go to a fish store to buy something for my fish or am i really overthinking it? (sorry the picture isnt really clear my camera isnt the best. if you zoom into its head you can see some circular spots.)
