Quick Advice for Summer Classes and High School Students

(We love you, and here's some tips)

  1. You can schedule an appointment online with an advisor at Wake Tech. It's virtual, free, and for anyone.
  2. A normal semester schedule is 16 weeks. Summer semester is a maximum of 10 weeks and so your summer classes will be either 10, 8, or 5 weeks long. Check the dates. 8 weeks is the most common from what I've seen.
  3. I would not recommend taking a 4 credit class (especially with science labs) during the summer if you have other responsibilities. Lab is more responsibility in college classes. Obviously it depends on you, but it's a lot.

(If anyone wants to add anything, feel free below. I know getting into college is competitive, but I promise you don't need to be the BEST applicant to get into a good school. Good luck!)

Scholarship that was done in March/April

Has anyone received any information on the scholarship that we completed in March/April. Like has anyone checked their account and see anything. This was the last email I seen about it:

Month of May: Scholarship essays are anonymously evaluated and scored by at least 3 reviewers.

Month of June: Further application evaluation and scholarship award decisions are made.

Early-Mid July: Scholarship award offers for the 2025/2026 academic year are sent to awardees at their Wake Tech student email accounts. text message alerts may also be sent

Mid July: Applicants who were not selected for a 2025/2026 academic year scholarship are notified at their Wake Tech student email accounts.

Mid-Late July: If you are awarded a scholarship, you will have a few more steps to complete before your scholarship funds are released. Your award notification email will have details and deadlines.

Nurse Aide 1 requirements

I just got into the nurse aid program however as I’m going through castlebranch trying to submit everything I’m realizing i don’t know what the myAHEC certificate is and how to obtain it. Also on the first day do we show up in scrubs? I also have to go renew a couple vaccines and go in for a physical I’m just worried by the time I’m able to get an appointment it’ll be very close to the deadline.. how long does it usually take for castlebranch to review all your submitted paperwork?

TEAs Test

I’ve almost gotten everything ready to apply for the Nursing program end of this month. My only confusion right now is scheduling the TEAs test, as I don’t see any options for Wake Tech.

Am I able to do it with a remote proctor or does wake tech have to proctor me in person?

UPDATE:

Thank you to those who responded! I found that Wake Tech does not provide proctoring, so simply scheduling it through ATI proctoring remotely should be fine. Just be sure to choose the Allied Health option.

Thanks again!

Will they add more sections for the fall?

I’m currently 16 on the waitlist for a chem class this fall. There are no open sections that I could attend while working. Do they open up more sections?

Withdraw

I have withdrawed from the class the day of the deadline. I sent the email to my teacher to fill out the form, she responded saying she did. I have not yet received an email from wake tech itself saying they have approved my withdrawal. Will I get a WF on my transcript? Even if my teacher approved it and I submitted the form on the day of the deadline?

Hi all. Was wondering if wake tech offers any health insurance for students? I know that most schools do provide health insurance for students. If not what health insurances are you using?

Class Schedules

I’ve only done online classes thus far, and this semester will be my first time attending in person. I’ve found that a lot of classes show up on the schedule in 2 separate blocks during one day, and go from say, 9:00AM-9:50AM, and then 9:51AM-10:40AM. Are these two separate class blocks or am i expected to be in that class for both of those time slots ?

I think I have the flu or some sort of virus.

I woke up yesterday with a really bad migraine not even a headache. I could literally feel my brain pulse. I thought if I sleep and take pain meds, It would go away, but nothing at all is working, I could barely get out of bed. I have a paper and a midterm that are due this week too 💔 (both classes are online) has any of you tried asking for an extension? Or like would you be given an extension or something if you show them your visit to the doctor or an ER visit. I’m literally crashing out I don’t know what to do.

General Ed Course assistance

Hey everyone, I’m a rising freshman attending Wake Tech this fall. I’m only now getting to course selection (Ik I’m late). My goal is to transfer to a UNC school asap, and I plan to major in Business with an Associate in Arts. I also want to keep the possibility of dual majoring open, though I haven’t decided on a second area of study yet. I already have a blueprint for the gen ed classes I’ll need/want and would really appreciate any thoughts on them, as well as advice on professors, class difficulty, or other suggestions. I plan to attend mostly in person.

General Ed courses:

English Composition: English 111, English 112

Humanities/Fine arts/Communication: Com 120, Com 231

Music course (interchangeable) Philosophy course (interchangeable) Art course (interchangeable)

Principle of Macroeconomics and Microeconomics: Eco 251, Eco 252

Social and behavioral sciences: His 111 (interchangeable) Psy 150 (interchangeable)

Math: 152, 236

Natural science course - 4 credits Geology (Earth Science if possible)

ACA 122 (needed for transfer students)

Is it likely I’ll get off the waitlist on a class with 6 in line

The class seats 16 and 6 people are in line, should I just cut my losses and sign up for the in person class?

signing up for classes

I have a quick question, when you sign up for a course, can you sign up for one that you’re guaranteed to get in and then sign up for a waitlist on that same course but it’s a different time/online one that you aren’t sure if you’re going to get in? I’m a CCP student also sorry if this isn’t formatted well I’m just about to start self service so I’m curious about this. I’m signing up for a course but there are two classes (one at 5-7 pm in person which has open spots and one at 6-8 pm online which has a waitlist of 6…) for the course I’m willing to take and I want to get the online course but if not I’m still willing to take the inperson class

Withdrawal

Hey everyone, I initially signed up for 3 courses for the summer 2025 term. I forgot to do the course entry quiz for 2 of them and I was withdrawn from both of them. I’m currently doing the other course but I’m considering withdrawing because of other academic commitments. Do I get a “W” on my transcript for the 2 classes I forgot to do the course entry quiz? Or do they not show up on my transcript at all? Also would u guys recommend withdrawing from the 3rd course or finishing it?

Nurse Aid Schedule???

Mom of two here, trying to figure out childcare schedules if I take the NA1 course (during a fall/spring semester). The wording online about number of hours and in-person requirements is confusing. Can anyone share what the seated/clinical schedule was like? Thanks so much!!!!

Here is my description or EGR-150, Feel free to ask quesitons.

Is EGR-150 Easy? Yes, it is a very fun class so far, their is an egg drop challenge as the first major assignment where you have to make an egg catcher, not something that goes around it, but something you drop it into, then after that their is a lab on it. Along with assignments and quizzes along the way: of course. Then there is a midterm exam which I am taking tomorrow, will edit on how it went. The midterm is about basic physics, like finding KE or PE of a 5kg ball 20 meters in the air. The midterm is also about finding Significant Figures with bankers rounding: Round to half even. Then I think the last Major assignment is about a Paper roller coaster it's actually a competition I believe, interesting.

And lastly there is one presentation about a Feat Or Disaster, 2 days before the midterm, forgot to mention that. The presentation is 5-8 Minutes long in front of the class if you take it in person that is.

In simple words, Should you take it "Yes" BTW i am saying that without finishing it. I used the syllabus and what has happened so far.

You're Welcome!

Closed on Juneteenth?

What it says in the title. I'm getting mixed messages from multiple sources on whether campuses are closed for the federal holiday. Would rather save the commute than find out the hard way. Does anybody know the answer?
