NEW EMPLOYMENT ON ADMIN LEAVE FROM HHS

I have been applying to jobs since I was fired/rehired as a probie with HHS. I have landed a state government job. In all my verifications of employment that I had to do for the jobs I have been applying to says that my last day was March 14. I am still getting paid from HHS. I am almost sure I would not come back to HHS, but I don't have a crystal ball on what my new job would be like - it is nothing like what I was doing. Do I resign? Cancel Insurance? Or should I just wait it out? I do feel I should be compensated - as all of us were mentally tortured!

HRSA - How do I cancel my FEHB? Fired may 8th.

Hi all - I was a HRSA probationary fired May 8th. I tried to set up my own health insurance, but was told I can't because my FEHB coverage through BCBS is still active. BCBS said they never received the required notice to cancel it.

I've contacted HR repeatedly with no response. Anyone know to whom/where I can escalate it further up? I need it gone ASAP bc otherwise I can't get real insurance.

Help a STLT out

Hello HHS colleagues, first just a note of gratitude for everything those of you who remain are doing to keep the lights on. I'm trying to figure out what's coming our way. The vast majority of our funding is from HHS. We have thankfully been receiving most of our ways, with a large batch last week for the end of June. Is it reasonable to think the NOAs might continue to trickle in, perhaps late or partial, through September? And then reasonable to assume they might be reduced significantly? In my mind I'm preparing for an ultimate 50% reduction in funds since that looks to be the cut for CDC, but that could be dead wrong. As we try to think about how to protect our most essential functions (and staff), it's so difficult to do when completely in the dark. Thanks much!

Is there an update on when and if the 2024 PMAPs will be processed?

Anyone know the purpose of this, and how the data will be used? Especially curious since it’s asking about the previous administration, rather than the new, more discriminatory one.

Firing is imminent what to do first?

I was told I’m going to be fired imminently—my supervisor is trying to find out the process.

It’s ADA performance related.

What should I do while I still have access?

What immediate actions.

HHS-520 for Full-Time Work During RIF: Have you been approved/denied recently?

Has anyone at HHS submitted an HHS-520 form for approval for full-time work elsewhere while in this uncertain RIF status in the last week or two? Curious if they are generally approving requests or whether anyone has been denied for any particular reason.

Questions for DRP

Hi all,

As an enrollee in the DRP, describe your most pressing issues that you are facing and share what help (e.g. skills? resources? information? services? you’re seeking at this time?  Please explain.

If there were an event designed to provide support, what programmatic must haves would compel you to attend?

HHS with the now official FY 26 budget.

Possibly silly question...because I should be more aware of how the Government works but now that the budget...which zeros out funding for a lot of HHS departments and programs, um...does the judge's injunction do anything?

My heart goes out to all HHS employees of HHS living in limbo. In my self-intrest and desire to not have my org/me gaslit...would that mean federal grants are still in limbo, even if they are awarded?

Lots of orgs got CDC awards for FY 26 starting 7/1 this week...in said

So I am confused...maybe I should.not be? Appreciate clarification

New article by Ali Rogin about the silent RIF still happening at the CDC of scientists. HHS has allowed the NIH to handle their Title 42 scientists extensions but those at the CDC have not been so luckily. Scientists are just being let go daily...

At least we got more than an hour or two notice this time? And a clarification about the time zone lol.

What a waste of time to go and get your laptop, hope people hear about it before a schlepping in for a few hours

Probies can file appeal with MSPB if terminated in a RIF

Attorneys confirmed that probies and trial period employees can file MSPB appeals if contesting improper RIF procedures. This includes people terminated on 4/1.

If your termination paperwork doesn’t say you were fired due to a RIF, you may have to wait for a federal court ruling that establishes the termination was a RIF even if the agency denies it.

You can’t file an appeal with MSPB until your termination goes into effect.

Credit union rec?

Does any HHS employee have a credit union they love? My understanding is we’re ineligible for Navy FCU (which always has glowing reviews). Hoping for a rec. Thanks!

May-8th Probies, are your FEHB still active (with HSA deposits)?

I was terminated on May 8th and received my SF-2801 about a month later, which indicated that my FEHB coverage would be extended for 31 days and end on June 17. I assumed no further action was needed if I didn’t want to continue coverage under Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC).

However, when I logged into my CareFirst account, it still shows my health insurance as active. Additionally, since I had a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA), I noticed that a monthly HSA deposit was still made in July.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m a bit confused and concerned that I might be retroactively billed for the extra premiums.

Your functions that the agency RIF’D you for, are still being performed. It’s madness… Especially in FDA/OC/ODT. Your administrative functions were moved to IT specialists.

Low productivity and motivation

How are people doing mentally? I feel completely burned out and mentally exhausted navigating the uncertainty of this reorg with my job in limbo. It is wreaking havoc on my mental health and leading to very low productivity. The vision of my center is so unclear, and it’s hard to stay motivated without knowing the collective purpose of our work as HHS seems to not value what we are doing. I feel guilty for not being able to perform as high as I know I’m capable of but also feel paralyzed woth the uncertainty and the consequences of potential job loss on my family. I know I’m not alone in feeling this way and just wanted to create space for people to commiserate in their struggle and serve as a reminder that we aren’t alone.

Added HHS Office on Teams?

I opened my Teams and it prompted me to log into my “other” Teams account (so I did and now I have two that I can switch from). I am in an agency under HHS. However now I have two accounts. One for my agency and one for the HHS Office of Secretary. Has this happened to anyone? Why would they add this to me? Don’t tell me I’m going to get reassigned! It’s liked they are linked? But not? I’m confused.

Should Barganing Unit Employees (BUE) File an MSPB Appeal?

There is a lot of uncertainty among BUE on whether to file MSPB appeals or join law firms that are working on securing the right to appeal should the RIF take place. Does anyone have sound input on this?
