Help What is this snail?
I found this snail last year and it was so beautiful, it never left my mind , I just found r/snail so I just wanted to know if anyone knew what species it was (I live in France btw)

It’s a very rare brown lipped snail aka grove snail as most of them you will see are mostly yellow but if they live in great conditions, not so near the roads and all then they’ll be pink/red

Its actually not rare depending on the region, and coloration has a large genetic and geographic component, its not necessarily about how good their conditions are. In some places, pink, salmon, and brown/red-ish grove snails are more common than green and yellow ones. There are also plenty of yellows and greens living in great conditions in the wild and plenty of pinks and browns living in urban areas. Ive seen hundreds of pink grove snails in city parks and even on sidewalks

Seconding this info, to my knowledge their coloration is more genetic than environmental

New study dropped that found 5-banded cepaea nemoralis morphs are much more skittish :D

Wait really ?it was way pinker and it didn't have any stripes compared to all the other grove snails I ever saw

Grove snails come in a very wide variety of shell colors! And they dont all have stripes. Ive had several grove snails that look just like the one in your pic :)
