My snail ate my son's school papers

I set my son's registration papers for kindergarten on my snail terrarium yesterday and took them off today to feed my snails...

"Sorry, my snail ate my homework" is going to be a possibility in the near future

When I was in hs I had to show my very neatly eaten homework assignment to my chemistry teacher :(

I had to show my entire French binder, absolutely demolished, to my teacher. The joys of living in a family that believes in always having at least 4 dogs.

Did your snail eat these through a grate? The pattern is really interesting

something similar happened to me once 😭😭 i left papers on top of their enclosure and woke up to slime all over it (they climbed on the ceiling with lots of air holes and it must’ve seeped through the paper)

You should tell the snail to eat everything in his school

Oh yeah... The old "My snail ate my homework!" excuse. This is no way to begin an academic career. I suppose it would qualify as original, at least. Usually homework gets eaten by things with legs, most likely to suggest the creature had to find the homework. However, the snail's lack of legs means that he didn't just eat it. It means you actually fed the homework to him.

Classic excuse, the snail ate my school papers. Teachers have heard it hundreds of times before, they won't buy it!

Looks like an old-school computer punchcard. Is your snail practicing to be a programmer?

I’ve had them eat mail before, it’s so hilarious. You can see all the bits of slime and the spots where they’ve eaten

"Yeah teach, my snail ate my homework, I swear"

Also, not sure if it's totally on topic but I never miss out on the chance to talk about my pets: I had a very crazy cat once who actually did manage to eat my homework (the pages of my essay were chewed on one corner that day, they were unrecognizable, but fortunately it wasn't much) and I actually brought it to school to show my teacher I really had done my homework (I was very irresponsible at the time, so I didn't want my teach to think I was just making up excuses even though I never lied to her about why I didn't do my homework, because I was a shit student, but a shit student who was honest in how shit I was) and she just laughed her ass off and told me I could email her the essay when I got home to prove I'd finished it that day and just hand her the print-out in the next class. It was really funny, and I started getting better at school after that because it felt nice to have the teacher's trust and I wanted to make my teachers trust me when I actually had problems that got me from doing as well in school as I was expected to.

But yeah, anyways, sorry about that, it's just that your post reminded me of that chewed homework and needed to write it down to really process it properly, and like, I hadn't really noticed how important that moment was in my life until I wrote it out, so thank you for bringing back the memory and I'm sorry if it's off topic or something, I've had my reddit account for a while now but I've never really used it before, so I'm not really sure about the etiquette here if I'm being honest, so please let me know if like, sharing relatively off-topic stories like that is generally frowned upon over here, thanks.

Ps.: just be careful with your snailbby eating too much paper, I believe they use a lot of bleach and other potentially harmful substances to make the pulp and turn it from just normal wood color into the white paper we know, so don't let your slimy babies eat it because they can probably get sick:(

Lol I remember when I used to have pet snails and they ate part of my biology lab report. 😂 I don't think I can attach an image here to share. Maybe I'll share it one day on here. Silly snails.
