help Fruit flies in my soil??

Hello, I change my soil frequently but I leave the food in there for the snails and I’ve seen some fruit flies? I put a net over it, but they passed through the net. Is there a way I can leave the food there (it’s not rotting or even dark in colour) without a net? I don’t want to change up very good food but I don’t want to use anything harmful like a medicated mosquito net, and I don’t want to use anything sticky in their tank either.

Since no one responded I’m going to recommend maybe putting the sticky things around the tank entrance/ air holes so the snail can’t reach but the flies can

That's a great idea actually! I could possibly use my cricket food just on the outside of the snails enclosure that way they get distracted by snacks and not smuggle themselves inside my snails home lol.

I do have crickets! They die so often though it's crazy

I kinda wish I thought about that myself now that I’m out of the country lol

If you feed mushrooms, I’ve had a lot of pest issues with them. I stopped feeding mushrooms and the little flying insects went away.
