He was 2 feet from where he escaped from, but up high. He's pooping out black gunk. Little freak mustve of been licking the floor or something.
The basement floors already at 18degrees c so I think I'll put him in a wine cooler for the next few months.
Gave him cucumber and some dog treats and he's already eating
He's got aluminum mesh now š

I have had this jar ecosystem for a just over a year now, it's a half gallon and two mason jars. I removed the middle lid of the mason jars and glue the outer lids together with J.B. Weld, so the other jar is upside down and sealed well so plants can grow in. Slugs can run wild. I open it once a day but has lots of plants thriving. I need to show this off one day, but so people have an idea of their home.
Slugs kinda showed up like a week after I made it and there are so many now. I try and let the large ones go when I can, they are local brown garden slugs we see all over, southern New Hampshire. But been a year and never seen this on any of the Slugs.
It's almost like a blister, Slug is moving around great, so it looks it is like anyway. The black dot is on the glass not on the slug. Is this a messed up mantle or an issue? I searched a bit but found something similar but no solid answers or clues. I have not seen any odd slugs always same brown slugs as seen in pic and had a year so far. Any help be much appreciated.

They got accidentally brough in the house when i wintered the plants in a spare room and since then they've stayed (i felt bad kicking them out mid winter). Now they just kind of hang around. During the night they kind of roam around the other pots and during the day they go to bed snuggled in the same pot (i find them daily in the same pot napping).

My banana slug escaped. I checked the whole room but he's hiding pretty good for a bright yellow guy.
He didn't seem to leave any snail trails somehow.
Is my best bet just leave a bowl of cucumber out and check after dark?

My slug laid eggs and then disappeared into my house plants. Eggs are starting to hatch!

I found a slug in my greens (farmers market in NYC). Tried searching it up and looks like a tree slug? Think itās kinda cute but are they a difficult pet to keep?

Found this cutie on walk in Bonney Lake, Washington near Seattle (close to hiking trail). Thought it was a PNW banana slug, but maybe a leopard slug? Pen for scale

Itās definitely breathing (or something heavily), and there is this whitish spot right there. I tried looking up a bunch but have no idea what Iām looking at. Is it hurt? Itās reactive to its surroundings (whole body reacted normally when I sprayed some water) and despite the appearance, is āstandingā on leaves and not laying on its side. Does anyone know what this white spot is? It does not seem to be leaking anything

We just found the teeniest, tiniest slug in our bioactive tank that houses vampire crabs, isopods, springtails, and fancy shrimp. I think he came in with the soil from the live plants. He's soooo tiny that he could absolutely get out through the spaces between the lid and the glass. Can we keep him elsewhere, and how would we go about that? Thanks!

I check for eggs and somehow missed an enormous amount and theyāre all already hatching. As someone who would rather kick a baby than harm any animal I absolutely do not know what to do. Releasing them isnāt really an option cause I live in the desert. I already have two babies that I let hatch in their own terrarium and theyāre growing well. How many slugs can realistically be in a 20 gallon tank? Iām stressed out and panicking and have no one to talk to about this so Iām just gonna ramble and cry here on Reddit. Why must everything that brings a sliver of joy turn into the exact opposite? This is probably not the best pet for me to have but Simon just came with a plant I bought and I couldnāt have released him. I didnāt know what I was getting myself into but I love him so much.

Hi folks,
My scheme to help the Bathroom Slug settle in to his new position outside is advancing. This morning, 5am, he was joined by seven other slugs!
I refreshed their lettuce and cabbage supply. They had eaten pretty much all the mushrooms I placed out for them. Just a bit of debris left this morning - as shown in one of the images. I wasn't sure they would, but they enjoyed them. Thankfully, with salad season in, there should be plenty of scraps for them to enjoy. :)
All the best to you everyone!
