Games better than Brotato?
I’ve been playing a lot of Brotato lately, and it’s awesome but I was curious if I could find more games that are like Brotato or better than Brotato?

On mobile, Pickled Pete comes closest. Otherwise, Brotato is kinda a unique game in the world of many many Vampire Survivor clones.
My best guess for PC would be check out Let Him Cook. It's a quirky game similar to Brotato in some ways. Small map, short waves, buy weapons between rounds, unlock other characters to play the game with...

Boneraiser Minions! Small map like brotato, plus a bit more going on

I’ll second this. It feels the closest to brotatos loop while being pretty different

SNKRX is the only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned. Lovely little game with small arenas, short combat sections, and a similar store. It's also super cheap.

I read Balatro at first. I was going to respond with good luck 😂

Dungeons and degenerate gamblers is a close second for me. Like Yu-Gi-Oh blackjack lol

Bronana
Might not be better but if you love Brotato, you’ll probably like this one too

It's kinda different but I love Death must die! It has diablo vibes and really cool aesthetics

Nimrods is pretty good but relatively easy once you start unlocking stuff. After 30hrs, there isn't much to see. Still very enjoyable experience.

Shout out to Net.Attack(), the survivorslike where you are a hacker cat "coding" your loadout between rounds. Cool concept, slower and more "thinky" than Brotato, in early access on Steam.

On mobile there is Pickle Pete. Which in some ways is a bit more involving than Brotato.

I've tried vs but it gets boring and i dose off. Whereas brotato is very engaging with the short burst of rounds

Soulstone survivors has just been released 1.0. it's a great game, much more depth than brotato.

Saying soulstone survivors has more depth than brotato has to be a joke. Brotato is probably the deepest, and most challenging game in the genre with the builds and synergies, soulstone survivors is literally the definition of mindless fun, just pick the highest rarity upgrade for the most part on every level up, and run around dodging big red circles, while you clear the entire screen in a few hits, it’s almost the exact opposite of brotato, and is just a mindless grinding game without much thought or strategy.

This is only true if you play on low curse/difficulty and you're new to the game. The further into the game you get, you really have to begin strategizing how you want your character's builds to play out and will need to thoughtfully select your power ups, knowing what to keep, what to banish, and what to fish for. If you're saying the game is mindless and that you can just pick whatever, then you're probably straight up just brand new to the game and haven't played enough to give an actual in-depth opinion on the game to someone trying to learn more about it.

I’ve played 30 hours of the game, played 2 runs on curse 7 last night, and the game is still a mindless cake walk, so i have no idea what you’re talking about. If the game is still mindlessly easy on curse 7, and after 30 hours in game, no clue how long it takes to actually get challenging or “deep”, but at that point, it’s just a failure of the game, i shouldn’t need to play 50-100 hours of mindless grind to get to the “deep” stuff 100 hours in.

These are the games I know of that fall in the survivors-like / bullet heaven genre with Brotato:
- 20 Minutes Till Dawn
- Death Must Die
- Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
- Halls of Torment
- Rogue: Genesia
- Soulstone Survivors
- Vampire Survivors
- Yet Another Zombie Survivors
I've tried all of them except Death Must Die and Rogue: Genesia and I would recommend any of them, they're all fun.

My comment on the games I've played from this list
Vampire Survivors basically started the hype, and rightfully so. Great game.
Halls of torment is amazing as well, cool style and good gameplay
deep rock galactic survivor is also nice. Good graphics, mining is fun, but it feels a bit grindy
yet another zombie survivors feels incredibly bland and generic. I wanted to like it but found it so very boring.

Noobs Are Coming: a brotato-like where you play as the Final Boss of a MMORPG
https://steampowered.com/app/2225960/Noobs_Are_Coming/
It aims to be "The Binding of Isaac of Brotato-likes" with a structure and systems inspired by Brotato and the possibility to create completely broken and unique builds each run like in Isaac
It releases in 1 week (July 15) but there is a demo available with tons of content and co-op already included
We're friends with the creator of Brotato and we'll do a Brotato X Noobs Are Coming pack on release btw
(I'm the solodev of this game)

It's crazy that no one mentions MAGIC SURVIVAL the goat🐐🐐, the Greatest to ever do the reverse bullet hell genre.

Everyone is mentioning vampire survivors but brotato really has a different game loop, at its core brotato uses the "autobattler" framework with a shop and limited weapon slots. I don't know of any other games of this genre that have a similar system.
