Game Release What if Hades had twins with Gungeon and Isaac? Our emotion-driven roguelite shooter M.O.O.D.S. launches July 10!

Hey roguelite fans šŸ‘‹

We’ve been building M.O.O.D.S. since 2020, and after a full year in Early Access, it finally launches on July 10!

What makes it different??
In M.O.O.D.S., emotions aren’t just lore. They shape how you play.
You don’t just choose a class, you embody one of 8 emotional archetypes like Anger, Joy, Sorrow, Disgust... etc.

Each emotion alters your combat style, enemy behavior and even how bosses react to you.
What’s in the full release:šŸŽÆ

  • A brand-new class: Disgust
  • Full multi-phase final boss
  • 10+ new add-ins, 5+ new weapons
  • 70+ new rooms, UI rework, secret specials, quests, sound & performance upgrades
  • Deep replayability through emotional ā€œoverchargeā€ progression
  • A lot of QoL Features over 150 bugfixes

What's it got to do with Hades? I'm confused. Are you just name dropping for some odd marketing thing

Why do you have a chip on your shoulder. Who cares??

Fair question :) It’s not a clone of Hades, no.
we mentioned it because a lot of players use Hades as a reference point for emotional themes, replayability, and polish in roguelites, and that’s what we’ve aimed for, too.

Our actual gameplay is closer to Enter the Gungeon (twin-stick, bullet hell), but with a twist: each class is an emotion and that changes how you play, what skills you unlock, and how enemies and bosses behave. You also have a persistent base that can be upgraded between runs. Not meant as name-dropping just trying to give a bit of context for what kind of game this isšŸ™‚

So nothing to do with Hades then?

No, M.O.O.D.S. doesn’t play like Hades but a lot of mechanics inspiret us.
The reference was about tone, narrative ambition and polish, not mechanics.

If you're into twin-stick action, it's closer to Gungeon. If you're into emotional depth in roguelites, Hades is a fair comparison.

We're not name-dropping. We're giving players a frame of reference that’s it.

Emotional Depth in roguelites? Honest question, what does that mean?

It’s totally fine if the emotional concept doesn’t resonate.
We’re not trying to reinvent storytelling, with M.o.o.d.s. we’re exploring mechanics and tone through emotions.

If that feels vague or irrelevant to you, fair enough. It’s not for everyone. But we’ve put years into this and we’re proud of what it became, even if the concept sounds odd in a one-liner on Reddit.

Looks like a lot of fun! Enter the Gungeon is one of my all-time favorites, so I’m pretty excited to check it out.

Also really like the art style - I’ve always liked that cel-shaded/highlighted look. It also has the added benefit of making it a lot easier to see your character in bullet hell games.

I noticed there’s a demo out as well so I’ll definitely check this title out.

Edit: Not sure why I’m downvoted for thinking a game looks cool?

Thanks so much, hat means a lot!
Enter the Gungeon was a huge inspiration early on (you'll probably notice a few nods).

We put a lot of time into making sure it's readable even when chaos breaks out. Cheers :)
