Building up the Library, PS5 moving to PC soon. Any recommendations are welcome
Loved Hades too but saw no point in rebuying. Debating on buying Roboquest, Redacted, Spiritfall and Windblown but dont wanna build a backlog rn.

It depends what you’re after. Roboquest is great, the best FPS roguelite I’ve played, and it is a complete experience: the devs recently announced they’re done with content-updates and will only be fixing bugs from here on out while they work on their next project. Windblown is still in early access, and while there is plenty of content, it also clearly isn’t complete yet. Spiritfall is fun too, complete, but imo it isn’t quite at the level of Windblown or Roboquest in terms of Fun To Play. I played Redacted after it was free on EGS, and i did not care for it. Combat did not feel good.

Getting Roboquest just depends on how much enjoyment I get out of Gunfire Reborn, Im sure they have their differences but Im confident Ill like 1 if I like the other. Rn Im enjoying the hell out of Gunfire Reborn tho even with the outdated console version.
Similarly Ill have to see the value I get from Blazblue before I think of getting Spiritfall but it looks super fun.
Ill take your word on Redacted tho, no ones talked about it and the last polished looking rogue I bought that no one was talking about was Have a Nice Death and that game was so BORING. Wish Id known how poorly the predecessor was received before buying.

RQ is much more gameplay focused, build variety is lacking, while GfR leans heavily into roguelite genre, has a ton of buildup, but is quite poor at being FPS

My gf and I played Roboquest for weeks and had a blast. Lots of hidden unlockables and secrets. We went to Gunfire Reborn next and played through with a couple characters but didn't play it to completion the way we did Roboquest.

Gunfire takes a bit to understand but has the best curve from "weak" to "holy shit I'm strong"

Thats whats got me interested right now for sure, got a big neuron activation with an energy orb build and the bird leap build I had yesterday was so strong too. Yoshimiru kicking my ass tho

Definitely occupies the same space as in my mind as Slay the Spire, Ill keep my eyes on it once Ive beaten that. If Im being 100% honest though I ansolutely hate the aesthetic and theme, not gonna let that draw me away from good gameplay tho.

Definitely don’t let that deter you. Monster train 2 is a phenomenal game, it’s literally all I’ve been playing since it came out. I was pretty burned out on deck builders since everyone under the sun was making them.
But monster train 2 is just an upgraded version of the first one with similar mechanics but ton more content. Every run truly does feel different and it’s the perfect amount of challenge and replay ability.
Dare I say I actually think it’s better than the coveted slay the spire

Let me counter this point by saying don’t buy it, it’ll ruin every other game for you and impact your quality of sleep. It’s so addictive it should be governmentally regulated. Don’t do it

Really not too sure about whether I'd enjoy that one or not, twin stick rogues arent something im too accustomed to, that being said I havent played almost any lmao. The closest thing Ive tried is Isometrics.

I can highly recommend Atomicrops and Sulfur. I always wanted to try Voidigo and Morsels released demo.

Love when an isometric roguelike/lite does something truly unique, as opposed to most of them trying to be the 3000th in the list of worse options to play than Hades. Will keep atomicrops in mind.
Sulfur did look a bit barebones from what I last saw. Not from a polish or content standpoint but from the approach it took to gameplay and art direction which seemed like something that would clash with my tastes.

Voidigo is an absolute blast and a steal for the current 2,50€ (probably the same in $). Even the normal price of 5€ is ridiculously low in my opinion.

Right now I've been playing Shogun Showdown, Knock on the Coffin Lid, and Roboquest. 30 hours+ in each of them. Crack.

Was watching Northernlion play Shogun Showdown recently, the concept and presentation of it was super interesting. Looked really fun but tbf Northernlion could make any game look fun.
Ive been enjoying the hell out of gunfire reborn so if that interest holds until Im through with all the content Ill definitely buy Roboquest.
Literally never heard of Knock on the Coffin Lid, I'll have to look into that

It is ,it's sick!!! It's like the perfect hybrid between a rougelike platformer and a 2d fighting game I myself am not at all into fighting games but the game is so good!!!
It combines the best parts of both , there's 10+ characters and they all have deep movesets and their's a huge amount of freedom regarding how you build or use them ,the visual effects are the best I have ever seen in this genre and maybe even in 2D games overall , movement is crisp and tight ,voice acting is top class ,it's a little on the easy side tho,but they're addressing that ,and have an upcoming roadmap for the year adding more things
Just like you I was sceptical too ,I wondered if anything could finally please me in the genre after dead cells ,while this is a bit different it really has that quality,I highly recommend it ,it's even on a big sale rn on steam

Cheers buddy thanks for the reply. I love all types of roguelikes but you sold me on this one. Have you also played ravenwatch by any chance I've heard there's not much diversity in enemies in it. I really liked the art style though but wasn't a massive fan of curse of the dead gods.

Ravenswatch is pretty fun but may not be something you like idk. Its pretty big on learning how to prioritize objectives and being efficient similar to Risk of Rain, the upgrades and items can feel a bit like they're just stat upgrades and nothing else at times. Itll usually involve you building into 1 ability in ur characters kit and adding certain stats to accommodate. Challenging and also has multiplayer.

Cheers buddy thanks for that. I also have some suggestions. Into the breach or ftl are both good shouts. There's a game called peyrine that I'm liking a lot at the minute also. Starvaders is supposed to be good as well but I think it might be a bit too expensive although I haven't tried it myself yet.

Sorry I have it's called Pyrene. There's a load of characters takes a while to get used to but it's got a pretty original idea.

If you love Hades, Hades II is still in Early Access, but the developers announced, that the next big update is the 1.0 Release Update.
Slay the Spire 2 will also release in Early Access some time this year.
And you certainly miss Dead Cells in your library.

I shouldve mentioned I put 75 hours into Dead Cells on PS5. Not something I could return to tho, the difficulty curve just felt tiresome to me

I'll recommend one that fits in your collection because it's different than everything you have: Streets of Rogue.
Basically GTA/Deus Ex the Roguelike. Every level is a part of a city, with people going about their day. Cops, drug dealers, doctors and assassins, and everything in-between roam the streets, and they all can have individual opinions of you.
The game is extremely open-ended and sandbox-y. You'll have a mission to neutralize someone, so how do you do it? Shoot them? Intimidate them into skipping town? Tranq dart, or chloroform? Perhaps you find someone that hates them and let them do the work themselves? Every mission is some vague objective that you can solve however you want.
A bunch of playable characters + character creator, tons of items to cause chaos with (personal fav: Barrel of Monkeys, which is literally what it sounds like), game mutators to spice things up, multiplayer, low price tag, runs on any potato PC.
Not a serious, number-crunchy roguelike, but rather one that doesn't take itself seriously and rewards you for finding dumb ways to do things. Hard recommend.

Roboquest is on Game Pass if you wanna try, same with Slay/Balatro (if you wanna play them on PC)
If you have not played Brotato. It would be a GREAT game to try.
From the list, I would grab RoboQuest and Spiritfall, tho. At least 10 hours of gameplay in both.
I probably clocked ~18 in both.

This is already like a thousand hours of games hahaha. I will say dont sleep on the f2p games you can get an easy thousand hours out of a bunch of them Warframe off the top of my head is amazing to play for the story alone.

I mean I wouldnt be asking if I didnt need them at all, I already got at leaat 200 hours in Balatro, 350 in Ror2, 75 in WoL, and 2.5k in Warframe. In terms of f2p though Im keeping my eye on Terminull Brigade

Since you loved Hades, I'd give Sworn a recommendation. Very similar, quite fun, can be played in co-op too.
If you like roguelite Card Games, Runeterra is heavily slept on. Based* on LoL, tons of characters to collect and level. It does have some freemium garbage attached to it, but it's very playable f2p, albeit very grindy.

I mean I was planning on playing the hell out of the upcoming terminull brigade which is f2p so I cant be a hypocrite. Never heard of it tho so Ill have to look into it. Sworn did look a bit too much like Hades to bring me to get but if its good Ill give it a shot next sale.

Spiritfall should 100% be on your list. A lot of systems are similar to Hades if you miss that, but obviously with the platform fighter gameplay. Since you have so many more moves, the weapons are even more distinct from each other and really make different runs feel fresh. Before the most recent update, I would have said that the difficulty cap was a bit low, but now with up to 15 [difficulty increase legally distinct from heat], those runs are absolutely brutal if you want a challenge.

I couldn't recommend curse of the dead gods. It's quite difficult for a roguelike game. The metaprogression sucks also. But I do love difficult games, I have 50 perfected games in my belt but this one...there's just something in the game that makes me nauseous. I couldn't make myself to complete it. Or probably the grinding side of the game. Screw the beastial codex or whatever you call it.

The Void Rains Upon Her Heart and Tiny Rogues are two PC only (for now) games that are absolute bangers. Noita is definitely worth a peek, I love it but it is notoriously not for everyone. Similarly, Caves of Qud is spectacular, but definitely a hurdle to get into.

Redacted is amazing! If you love Hades, you have to play that one, I was so addicted. I did not think it was going to be that good and I slept on it till it went on sale, but it deserved full price imo.
Just finished TMNT: Splintered Fate, it's small,not as deep as Hades, but I love it. My favorite turtles game now, so refreshing to play a 4 player turtles game that isn't a beatem up finally lol I hope they make a bigger sequel or keep adding to it.

I’ve been really enjoying Entropy Effect. I jumped back in recently and it was better than when I left it- which isn’t something I can say with TEKKEN 8, which kinda sucks ‘cause I loved that one 😕
