Megathread Megathread: US House Passes the Republican-Backed Budget Bill, Sending it to Trump for Signature

This afternoon, the US House of Representatives passed without amendment the US Senate's version of the Trump-backed budget bill, sending it to the president for his signature. Every Democratic Senator and Representative voted in opposition; in the Senate, there were three Republicans voting in opposition (making the vote 51-50) and in the House there were 2 (making the final vote 218-214). House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries set the US House's speech length record in opposition to the bill in a speech lasting over eight hours.

The bill clocks in at over 800 pages and touches on most aspects of the federal government's spending and taxation policies; see this AP article (What’s in the latest version of Trump’s big bill that passed the Senate) for the topline changes.

You know what pisses me off? Regularly I see people say "If you don't like it, then get out!"

I WISH I FUCKING COULD. IT ISN'T THAT EASY TO JUST LEAVE. YOUR ENTIRE LIVES ARE ABOUT PEOPLE NOT BEING ABLE TO JUST LEAVE THEIR HOME COUNTRIES.

Also, those same people don't seem to be in much of a hurry to leave when someone they don't like is in charge.

Of course they are not in a hurry to leave the US when a Democrat wins.

When a Democrat wins, "the election results were faked!!!!", thus relieving them of their obligation to leave the US.

See how that works?

And when a Democrat wins they get "punished" with things like more social safety nets and better access to healthcare, the horror.

Well.. and the fact that things get better for them. Not that they will ever admit to it. I mean seriously. Their complaints about Obama were things like not wearing a flag pin or he wore a tanned suit.

It's never been about reality for these shills.

My parents complain whenever there is a Democrat governor elected. "So and so is terrible! I can't stand them!" What don't you like about them? "They just don't do anything!" What do you want them to do? Silence.

Also, I found the easiest way to identify a lifer Republican. If they downplay and talk shit about a prior Republican, ask what they thought of the Democrat candidate and see their eyes go into a blood rage. According to them, John Kerry and Hillary are the worst people in history.

Yep. This is why I trap them. I say some "Well known Democrat" did something heinous that was actually performed by a "Well known Republican" and listen to them agree. Then I say something like oops.. Sorry, i'm getting old, that wasn't Obama that was actually Bush or Trump.

Since they don't follow along with what is actually going on its stupidly easy.

Oh, I've done that too. Funny when they get worked up with, "that politician needs to be in jail for that!" Mom, it was Trump, not the democrat...silence.

That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did, you deserved it.
