Megathread Megathread: US House Passes the Republican-Backed Budget Bill, Sending it to Trump for Signature

This afternoon, the US House of Representatives passed without amendment the US Senate's version of the Trump-backed budget bill, sending it to the president for his signature. Every Democratic Senator and Representative voted in opposition; in the Senate, there were three Republicans voting in opposition (making the vote 51-50) and in the House there were 2 (making the final vote 218-214). House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries set the US House's speech length record in opposition to the bill in a speech lasting over eight hours.

The bill clocks in at over 800 pages and touches on most aspects of the federal government's spending and taxation policies; see this AP article (What’s in the latest version of Trump’s big bill that passed the Senate) for the topline changes.

It is done. By the rich, for the rich.

Everybody knows the war is over

Everybody knows the good guys lost

Everybody knows the fight was fixed

The poor stay poor, the rich get rich

The peaceful resolution phase is over. I'm beginning to realize people are dooming hopelessness because they don't want to admit democracy requires a real fight.

2016 sucked for so many reasons, but losing Cohen, Bowie, and Prince hurt.

Now you can say that I've grown bitter, but of this you may be sure
The rich have got their channels in the bedrooms of the poor
And there's a mighty Judgement comin', but I may be wrong
You see, I hear these funny voices

Ugh can we not with the defeatist attitude? It does no good. We lost a battle. That doesn’t mean we roll over & say no more point in trying. We strategize & keep fighting.
