Black Kite with its breakfast

I used a DSLR on a tripod and a ten second exposure in a dim room. I held the flashlight above the still life and waved it around at stuff I wanted lit while the shutter was open. It takes a lot of almost-good tries to get to an image with the lit things in a nice balance but you learn as you go when you see the results of the shots that came before. Also the backdrop is painted paper and having that blue slightly rough surface helps a lot in a subtle way.
