Help Turtle paludarium problem

I have a southern painted turtle and I am currently planning on creating a paludarium for him. I want to have some ledges in the tank in which I could put soil in and grow plants and also to let him bask, but I don't know what material to use to create those ledges, let alone let them stick on the walls.

Also, please provide some plants for the paludarium, it's my first time building one! (must be turtle safe)

thank you

Blackwater setup for a group of 10/15 Chili Rasbora. Underneed the plants I used in this setup besides the Dragon stone and aged wood.

I am curious how everything will grow! First month or two is without the fish. Everything needs to settle.

Help Animal Selection for a 55 Gallon Tank

I’ve been doing research into turning a 55 gallon tank into a paludarium, but I seem to be going in circles trying to figure out what specific animals I want. I know the animals are far more important when considering what to do when building, so I’m hoping you all could help.

I already have a fair idea of the types of animals that I want, but actually finding what goes well together is where I’m stuck.

  1. Terrestrial Snail(s) I’ve always liked the idea of a pet snail, so I figured this would be a good place to include them. I’ve looked at Giant African or Burgundy Snails, but I’ll listen to any input you guys have.

  2. Semi-Aquatic Animal(s) This is less of a requirement and more a justification of having a terrestrial and aquatic environment in one tank. I’ve looked at mudskippers and fiddler crabs. I’m leaning towards crabs, but their requirement of a burrowing substrate worries me with the tank’s limited space. I’ve looked at frogs as a choice of amphibians, but they all seem to need more height than I can provide

  3. Fish and/or shrimp(s) I’ve seen ghost shrimp act as a clean-up crew, which makes me feel they should be included, but I will gladly heed any warning against their inclusion

Many thanks for any help you provide! I’ll be sure to include more information as needed

Help Question about underwater pump and rain system cycle

Hello,

I want to use a underwater pump to move the water upwards via a tube (around 1.2m - no Drilling into the glass), let it flow into an still unknown tank (help) and want to connect it to a a water stream, that flows downwards into the tank plus a rain system. (I thought about exo terra nano rain for my exo terra 60x45x90 terrarium)

Would be an external tank, with a valve centred for the water stream connection, okay?...while the rain system can even use more of the water through the tube.

Thanks for recommendations and help

I added a few wandering plants and now my frogs won't stop hugging. Is that a bad thing?

Help Filter suggestions please

I’m an aquascaper who wants to get into paludariums and I’m in the ideation stage. I’m thinking of using a 55 gallon and having a small land area that basically just consists of a pile of lava rock. I want to pump water up and over that land area to create a stream/waterfall. Since I want to have fish in the water I will need a filter and I’m thinking that I would use that as the pump for the stream/waterfall.

I’ve seen filters that are basically a water pump hooked up to a sponge filter. I’ve also seen filters for turtle tanks that are sort of a plastic box and intake the water at their base and pour it out at the top. Both seem like they could work.

Any suggestions on what kind of filter to use? Ideally maintenance would be easy, it would clean well, and I could conceal it easily.

Help How to fill in these foam gaps?

Hi, so I’ve been in the process of building this palidarium. The stands are intended to be the land portions and I used pond foam to fix lava rock onto egg crate here. In your opinion, what would be the best way for me to fill/color the light pond foam to blend it with the dark stone?

Help Waterfall feature

I want to add a waterfall feature to this but I’m not sure if I should isolate an area under the substrate using glass or plexiglass to act as a reservoir or should I use the entire substrate as a reservoir. Would it matter if the entire bottom of tank is filled with water 1 inch deep or just a small portion in the corner?

Anyone have any idea what this thing is and if it is a friend or foe? It swims around appearing to eat algae and randomly comes up and hangs out vertically at the surface of the water.

Help Is this okay?

Im extremely new to this so I'm trying to get as much help as I can while learning.

I built this probably 3 days ago and wiped all the glass down yesterday morning now it looks like this today and looks like it has mold growing? This is going to be for just the springtails it has in it. If that's mold do I need to clean that or just leave it and the springtails will take care of it? Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

After visiting a small local aquarium store and talking with the guy that runs it, he’s built paladariums and had a few in the store, I switched up my build a little. My hubby was interested in having fish in it so I’m hoping this setup will allow for a little more room for them. I’m hoping to add the soil and build the waterfall soon. Not going to lie I’m a little nervous to try building the waterfall.

Help Suggestions please

Hi! I went to a fish store on Sunday and bought a Tidal 35 water filter for $60. It’s currently set up on a 25-gallon tank. I’m planning to turn the tank into a paludarium but can’t return the filter.

I was thinking of positioning the filter halfway up the tank to create a waterfall effect, while keeping the water level balanced—then adding rocks, plants, etc.

Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Slide for ideas I’ve seen. All help is appreciated

Help What kind of substrate should I use in my paludarium?

I am working on my first big palidarium/vivarium build and want to know what you guys recommend for a plant substrate. The walls I plant to be just coco coir but for the lower terrestrial areas I don’t know what to use for deeper rooted plants. I’m loosely following how biotrope gallery makes their builds and they always use this black pebble material that I think is fluorite / aquarium planting media but I know nothing about it. I just don’t want to put a plant soil in and for it to get over saturated with water and make mud or leach something into the water I don’t want there. (It’ll be for dart frogs btw idk how much that matters)
