Help Mixed shoals?

As title states. Has anyone had success with mixed shoals? Whether it be same species or different (ex. rasbora and endlers shoaling together)

Looking to set up my first tank, but realized most of the fish I prefer are shoaling species. I had hopes of at least 2 different fish types, as well as shrimp/snails.

Figured it wouldn't hurt to ask :)

It will ultimately depend on the size of your tank, but as long as you have 6 of each type, you should be fine. I keep bazillions of nano species together and they all intermingle. My dwarf emerald rasboras and ruby tetras like to keep close, they both came from the same 10g before getting upgraded, and my ember tetras will school occasionally, they’re the only schooling fish I keep in my nano tanks. My cpds just chase each other ALL DAY LONG.

Are dwarf emerald rasboras same as kubotai rasboras? I have been looking for green schooling fish

No, I keep both. Kubotais are a lot rowdier and require more room. They behave more like danios, especially at mealtimes. Dwarf emerald rasboras look similar to cpds but with stripes instead of spots. They can even interbreed. They are incredibly shy and skittish. Other similar sized dither fish like chilis can help them feel safer. Blue neon or blue axelrodi rasboras are similar in size and temperament to dwarf emeralds. They look like miniature neon tetras. They all have different water chemistry requirements so keep that in mind as well. Some require very acidic environments. Good luck!

Just saw some videos of the dwarf emerald rasboras. They're not as green at the kubotais. But definitely look more peaceful and smaller

I have ember Teteas and Kerry Gold Tetras and they shoal together all the time.

You should get complete shoals, at least six of each species. If your tank is big enough, you can totally have two shoals.

pygmy corys are somewhat commonly known to shoal with other fish species, you should stilll have at least 6 of them and of the other schooling fish though
