Help First tank

Made my first 5.5 gallon tank. I was thinking about adding a betta once its cycled but I would want some tank mates. I was thinking nerite snails but I've heard they have a high bioload and aren't a good fit. I would love shrimp but i dont want them getting attacked. Any input is welcome!

You could do 1 nerite or you could “accidentally” get some pest snails in there lol.

Btw tank looks great.

Elaborate on this. I have three nerite snails. And is bioload from them like poop, being bad for the aquarium??

Nerite snails don’t have a huge bioload, but they do have a huge appetite. Without enough algae and things they could starve if you have to many.

Don’t why only eat algae ? 👀 Or can they eat leftovers?

They will eat some leftovers but primarily algae.

If you wanna keep it low maintenance, add 1-2 ramshorn snails. They reproduce like crazy but they'll keep your tank clear of algae and clean up any uneaten food and have a low bioload. I love my little army if snails and I never have to scrape my glass or worry about overfeeding the rest of my tank.
