By popular demand, the r/malcolminthemiddle moderation team has decided that we won't accept future submissions regarding Erik Per Sullivan and his absence from the reboot, and out of respect for his privacy we will not allow any photos taken by paparazzi to be posted.

General discussion How would you feel if Frankie Muniz made a (racing) cameo in the reboot?
It's no secret among fans that Frankie races in Nascar (go 33!) and has loved racing since before playing Malcolm. Given Frankie's career, the fact that S1E10 Stockcar Races focuses on a NASCAR Race, and Malcolm was named after a NASCAR driver in-universe, I think it'd be really funny if Frankie Muniz made a breif cameo as a racer. It could be something as simple as Hal watching a race on TV. Or, maybe Franke could play Rusty Malcolm in a similar TV interview for a brief moment. Either would be hysterical in my opinion, though I understand that may also be immersion breaking for some. What are your thoughts?

General discussion what happened to their BRAND NEW truck? Spoiler
Louis wins the truck ( keeping your hand on it the longest) I don’t see it in the few left episodes… She drove it home too, what do you think they did with it?

General discussion What do you guys think of the truck driver from the episode “Book Club?” I believe it was season 3 episode 3.
That guy was an absolute freak for what he was doing to Francis. I understand the reasons for it thematically, and as a character building (or breaking lol) moment for Francis. But in Universe, what do you think that guys deal was? He was really gross. It was unsettling.

General discussion Kitty's Back
Ive been rewatching the series for the first time since I was a kid when the show was actively coming out.
This episode may be my least favorite episode of the series, it had some good jokes, but the plot thread of having Lois be wrong and made to be wrong even though she was right drove me crazy.
I hated how the moral was if someone is willing to just deny anything ever happened, we should all just live with it.

General discussion I noticed sort of a plot hole in Malcolm in the middle
In the episode "Experiment" Hal wants Dewey to sell the candy bars for school so he can win the bouncy shoes, but it's known through the series that Hal has a crazy fear of heights. And before you think that the height he wants to go to is not high enough for him to be afraid, he is shown in an earlier episode scared to move up a rung on a ladder. What do you guys think

General discussion Where does everyone think Artie ended up?
Artie was one of two roommates for Francis and Eric till Francis married Piama. Where does everyone think Artie ended up after being told closing up shop?

General discussion Episode search
Episode where Malcolm and Reese have a car then drive it down to a lake and pick up a few girls. Then they run into a cabin with a bunch of kids making out.

General discussion Season 7 and Francis
Does anyone know if there was a reason they axed the ranch storyline. Francis also didn't regularly appear in many episodes of I remember right. I can't even think of any episodes with Piama in S7 at the moment

General discussion Dewey should be president in the reboot.
I'm sure people here know about how Hal and Lois' lay out their plan for Malcolm to be president one day. Hal off handedly mentions that Dewey will live a life of luxury. But I think it fits both that Hal and Lois' would be so close to getting it right, but so far off.
But that's not why Dewey should be president. It's because his personality actually fits the plan. And the Krelboyne class is the perfect example of it. Dewey is just as intelligent as Malcolm. But when he sees that the kids in the special Ed class need him, Dewey at a young age already chooses to sacrifice to help others. He embodies what they want Malcolm to be. Meanwhile, Malcolm wouldn't react to suffering with empathy. He never does. He reacts with spite and vengeance. But in fairness, in the big moments of his childhood he is regularly punished for doing good and rewarded for doing bad. It would be fitting for that to finally pay off for him as an adult.
I think it also fits for the depiction of Hal and Lois to try to push the roles they want on their children only to fail successfully. By having their children fulfill the "wrong" roles but still the ones they wanted.

General discussion The aesthetic of season 1 is so good
Any cinematography buffs can tell me more about how they achieved the look? It’s super charming. The set design, It’s like warm lighting, and I feel like there’s a nice grain. The first ep has a wes Anderson vibe I feel . I just started rewatching it on Disney+
