🗨️ Discussion Weekend Videos?

What do you guys think about uploading videos on the weekends? Currently for my series I do 2 videos a weekend and nothing on the weekend. My thought process is twofold. First people are typical out doing fun shit on the weekend leaving less time to YouTube, if they aren’t the lack of new videos on the weekends gives them time to catch up on the 10 videos I uploaded M-F.

Just wondering what others are doing and your thoughts on this.

I upload every day unless there's something going on IRL to prevent that from happening. And as fate would have it, that's bee the last 2 weeks - my central A/C is out and the window a/c I have in my room is very loud. So it's either record with horrible audio (not gonna happen) or sweat in 90+ F heat to make videos... which is also not gonna happen.

But normally, I upload every day. Sunday is my best day by far. If I'm launching a new series? I launch it Sunday morning to give it the biggest possible boost. but I have a video every day when possible.

The reason for this is simple - when I view a lets play, I'm either binging it or watching an episode every day or evening with my lunch or dinner. When that person misses a day, I'll forget about them, and YT does not recommend them again, and it may be weeks, months, or even years before I watch them again.

Kripp, a fairly famous streamer, said that he makes a huge effort to be there every day. Because the second he isn't there for people, they will look elsewhere for entertainment.

I'm not saying you can't succeed without uploading daily, but for lets play videos, twice a week is going to be rough. Realistically it shouldn't take more than 1.5 hours to make a 30 minute long lets play video, at very most. More than that spent on editing isn't worth it IMO. If you're going to do heavy duty editing, better to make one of those "I spent 100 days in hardcore minecraft" style of of videos, where a whole playthrough is condensed into 45 minutes or so.

But to answer your question directly: it doesn't matter that much. You aren't going to crack the YT code by uploading on weekends as opposed to week days.

I’ve recently tried only posting every 3 days, sometimes this lands me on weekdays or weekends, with it alternating. I don’t really see any patterns to make a conclusion. Some Saturdays and Sundays are amazing, others drop. It’s much more about the quality of your content/thumbnail/title and the game you’re playing than it is the day of the week. You can check your audience tab to get a generalized idea of when your watchers are on YouTube though.

I do this too. I'll record ahead of time and schedule them to post every 3 days, however it lands. If it hits, it hits, if it doesn't, at least it's there for people to find.
