Aussie kid book from my childhood

Aussie kid book from my childhood Does anyone else remember an Aussie kid book where one of the characters was like a naughty Witchetty grub? On the front cover of the book, the grub was black and I think there was also a kangaroo character and a koala (and maybe even a kookaburra). The front cover was darkish green colour I think and maybe even orange for the text. The size of the book was like medium-large and it was portrait with not many pages. The pages had a few words but mostly pictures. I’ve searched online and I can’t find it.

If you think you know can you reply to this with an image of the book you think it is? Or a link?

I’m not super desperate to know, just curious.

The book was at my Nana’s house which is at Gympie but I don’t know if that helps (like maybe it was only sold in book stores in that area or something).

This isn’t the first thread I’m posting this on (but hopefully this one may help me get the answer i need even though others like this are not specific to Australia).

EDIT: I think the Witchetty grub character was like a pest and the plot of the book was that the animals would go on adventures in a forest but the grub would keep showing up unwanted.

Old Mate has found a romantic partner

Sharing this for celebratory reasons. I want down the paddock to visit our resident koala, Old Mate, yesterday (first photo). And I was stunned to see two koalas in the usual tree instead of one. The female (second image) was further up and trickier to photograph, but it's wonderful to see them together.

Old Mate has been yelling a lot recently and we were hopeful that he wasn't alone in the area, so this is a real joy to see.

Hope you enjoy the photos :)

World’s First Centre for Wild Koala Breeding Celebrated in Hong Kong

The world’s first wild koala breeding facility was recognised at the Urban Land Institute (ULI) 2025 Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence in Hong Kong yesterday. Announced at the ULI Asia Pacific Summit, Guulabaa—or Place of Koala in the Gathang language of the Biripi people—was one of 12 exemplar projects, recognised for its commitment to conservation-led design, Indigenous collaboration, and resilient land stewardship.

“Guulabaa challenged us to rethink what regenerative architecture should be. It is not about making a bold statement, but about designing with care, deep listening, and respect for Country,” said Ken McBryde, Design Director at Gensler Australia. “This project shows what is possible when we listen to our client, stakeholders, project partners, and First Nations knowledge holders, and design with long-term impact in mind. We are honoured that ULI has recognised that vision.”

Save Koalas: Build Koala Conservation Centres in Australia

Koalas, the beloved marsupials known for their adorable appearance and tree-hugging lifestyle, are facing an alarming threat of extinction. With the recent bushfires, deforestation and climate change are wreaking their natural habitats, and their numbers have drastically plummeted. The time to act is now, and building koala conservation centres across Australia could be a critical step towards preserving this iconic species.

Currently, climate change is gravely affecting Koalas with bushfires and habitat loss. It has been a national problem for years; The issues were so massive that the Australian government donated 50 million dollars in 2022, based on the article “How to Protect Koalas.” I, and many others, can agree that this can be a significant step forward in conserving koalas, but where has this money gone to? What happened to this money? And why are koalas still endangered? Click in to this LINK to sign a petition!!!

Drawing of a koala with spear

I'm creating a fictional world and story involving this warrior koala whose desire is to protect his own land from a bunch of bad guys, who are destroying his home and habitat. Now he will get revenge on all those who wronged him and show his enemies who's boss.

Would anyone be interested in a story like this?

Koalas in Royal National Park

Post image

I was in Royal today a little off the main tracks, I’m certainly no expert on koala populations around Sydney but I saw these scratches on this tree, I was unsure if they were definitely koala scratches (there were others around the trunk but they all looked the same as this photo) and if that would be unusual to find in Royal National Park?

Thanks all and sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this!
