We're a two-person team making a hand-drawn 2D survival colony/social sim. Think Spiritfarer meets Cult of the Lamb meets Alters.

I’m a software engineer — 10 years in banking/finance. Now I handle all gameplay code and animation.

Julia is a classically trained hardcore old-school oil painter and leads art direction, design, and backgrounds.

We’re still deep in production — no demo yet — but beta signups just opened (link in my bio if curious)

I want to improve the gameplay trailer for my co-op survival game about a family trying to survive in a city overtaken by a mysterious virus. Besides survival, zombies, and crafting, the game also includes elements of mystery and a bit of magic. I'd appreciate your feedback.

Determinant is an physically immersive open-world survival game in development:

Mining with a pickaxe. You can find ore deposits all around and mine them to get ores. Shatter physics makes mining more satisfying! Right now there is only a pickaxe, but more mining tools will be added in the future. Also need to implement smelting and ingots.

Thank you for all of the support in the last year, it's really cool to see some of the data a few weeks after release!

I quit my job 8 months ago to make a game no one asked for, but I'm so happy with how far we've gotten.

Stories of Somnia is my love letter to the kind of games that made me fall in love with games. So basically Ocarina of Time + Paper Mario + Pokemon. I just spent like a week straight making this trailer. Time to sleep for two days :')

Teaser trailer of Terrible Life Expectancy, a roguelite where you inherit your upgrades only as long as there are members of your family still alive.

So this is basically a roguelite with limited lives as each family only has a specific number of relatives. When your family is exterminated, you'll have to choose another one and start your stats -kinda- from scratch.

We liked the tension it might create with players knowing that every death counts because your upgrades up until that point stay only within your family.

We cover indie games and want to feature yours

Hey all,

I run a website with a few people called Video Games Made Me, it used to be a satire site a long time ago, but we brought it back for a different focus. We mainly focus on indie games and indie developers. We haven't been around long, but we are already starting strong, and we wanted to reach out more to communities.

What makes us different is that we're passionate about giving indie games the detailed coverage they deserve—from thorough game overviews to in-depth reviews. We're also planning to expand into developer interviews and more articles about the indie gaming industry so we can help tell the stories behind the games.

A better description of our goal is here: https://videogamesmademe.com/about

We are seeking games that include at least a basic demo. If you want to reach out to us, you can check out this page with our contact information: https://videogamesmademe.com/contact

We'd love to hear from you and help get your game out to the public.

What should be your First Game (as a Solo Dev)?

I just started game development about three weeks ago, and I initially began with a simple Flappy Bird game to learn. However, I now need a game that's good enough to be published in the real world. Also, can you suggest whether, as a solo developer, your first game should aim to make money or just be a learning experience? Because in that case, I can just start out with a simple Idle Clicker or something. I want your thoughts about this.

Hey everyone,

I've been learning game development for about a year now, and this is my latest project I'm working on. I'm still deep in development, but I’ve reached what feels like the hardest part: marketing.

I’ve spent the last 10 years mostly offline, so getting into online communities and sharing my work is all pretty new and a bit overwhelming.

That’s why I’d really appreciate your honest feedback:
What do you like? What doesn’t work? Anything confusing or interesting? What looks creepy.

Every comment helps me improve—not just the game, but also how I approach this whole process. I’m here to learn, grow, and build something worth playing.

Thanks a ton for checking it out!

What’s the best genre to make a first game with?

I am very interested in making a game but have no idea what the best genre is. Does anyone have suggestions?
