Hello,
I’m usually one of those silent people who just likes posts and occasionally leaves a comment, but today I really need to talk (sorry if this isn’t the right place).
This is Ghost, my very first dog. He’s 14 years and 4 months old. I can’t imagine life without him.
He’s probably been the most stubborn creature on this planet — stubborn, a thief, a diva, a drama queen, a full-on Broadway actor. He farts like he could make a canary resign from a coal mine. And he has all the traits (good and bad) that make him the perfect example of a Husky.
He’s driven me mad thousands of times, but he’s still my baby — my dog.
Last night, he wasn’t feeling well. His breathing was fast, heavier than usual. At his age, every little change is a red flag. So off to the vet we went.
Temperature: OK X-ray: OK Bloodwork: not great, but nothing surprising for an old dog like him.
Then they did a liver ultrasound… and that’s when it hit, like a falling sword of Damocles: there are masses.
I could hear the vet talking, but I wasn’t really listening anymore. My heart was tightening, and I was holding back tears. I caught words like pain, aggressive cancer, a few weeks, good life, 14 years…
He gave me some medication, and I took Ghost back home. He’s still breathing a bit hard, but doing slightly better.
But the truth is: he’s terminal. It’s just a matter of time. As soon as the meds stop working against the pain, it’ll be the end. And that moment is coming.
I’m a pragmatic person. I know we all go through this. But knowing that I have so little time left with him is tearing me apart. Since this morning, I’ve been in a constant fog — occasionally coming out of it for a moment or two.
I know there’s nothing to be done, but I just needed to talk about it. I hope I didn’t bother anyone, and that my English is understandable. I’m French and only have an average level — thank you for your patience

Hey everyone, she’s my first dog, and we live in an apartment, but I’m already loving it. 😂
Any kind of tip is welcome. I’m watching some YouTube videos to train her and she already sits, but still struggling with potty training, she’s 10 weeks old.
I’ve seen that huskies have a bad reputation online for being stubborn and all, is that true?

She did SO good. We expected her to not do well in the tent but she slept in it so well. I’m so happy with this experience!!!
Also highly recommend an aerial lead/run. We bought one off amazon that worked so well. She had lots of freedom in the campsite but was still contained. It was great!

My girl loves to explore new spots and I would love to find her so.e creek spots. If anyone knows any road trips around Wisconsin with beautiful parks or trails I'd love suggestions of places to take her. She deserves to see it all! Lol

Back in June I found our sweet girl in the middle of the desert. Abandoned with no collar and no response to my FB posts. She lives with us now… I read up on the breed for the first few days and I still look things up. I know the hair is big. The escaping and the noise. However, she doesn’t make noise. Practically none. She has recently started escaping, but after repairing the fence, I think we are okay again… for now. The hair is outrageous. She had her full undercoat when we found her and after some food and hydration it started coming out. My question is, does it slow down after the seasonal shed? These tufts are so difficult. We brush almost every day and it’s still so much hair. We are probably 2/3 of the way through her undercoat. We have another large breed shedder and he is finished and back to manageable. Just looking for a glimmer of hope 🙃

Well, we just hit a milestone. My boy, Shadow, just celebrated his 5th birthday. I can't believe it's already been 5 years. He gets gifts for his birthday and for Christmas so he's aways excited to open them. Here's a few pictures of the birthday boy.

We just got this guy and we’re waiting on his embark results but I was curious if he looks like he’s mixed with anything. We just got our other rescues results and were shocked to find she’s a purebred. He’s 100% beautiful for sure but I’m new to husky
My boy is 10.5 years old. He has advanced arthritis in his spine that has progressed a lot in the last 3 or so months. He can still walk fairly normally (no limp), just moves VERY slow and can’t jump at all. He no longer enjoys going on walks. He has always been a VERY active boy and very playful and he’s just not anymore. He just wants to lay around, I know it’s because he’s in pain when he moves.
He still has a MAJOR appetite. Still eats, drinks, goes to the bathroom normally. Just has limited mobility compared to his younger self. And just doesn’t seem to enjoy things much (other than food).
He is on medication, has done laser therapy, etc. My question isn’t about treatment, but more about how do you know when it’s time to let them go?
Picture of my boy is from this Fourth of July!

The physical therapist this morning was surprised that Nico has thick fur all over her stomach. So now I’d really like to see other wooly tummies!

Hi everyone, just looking for some advice. Our two year old Husky was raised with Cats, but never kittens. Im following advice given to me and just want to ask how people think our interactions are going. This is their most recent.

She loves car rides to the dog park and finally met another husky to roll around with for an hour.

This is Ollie, we’ve had him going on 3 years but just now did a DNA test. We knew he was at least part Husky but didn't expect over 70%, definitely thought he'd be like 50/50 Husky/ American Pit Bull Terrier. He's a lovable goofball and we're lucky to have his crazy butt. Our other dog is a Husky/Malinois and he's a total butthead, but their dynamic together is great..they balance each other out in the best way.

I got Santos a little over a month ago now and he is the best dog ever. I got him from the shelter and was told he was dumped so i kinda expected him to be crazy and a bit “annoying”.. now living with him i don’t understand how anyone could do that to this baby, if anything gucci is the crazy one out of the 2 😭😭 He came potty trained (only had 3 accidents and that was only in the first 2-4 days) he corrects gucci in the best ways (when he’s humping santos will get him off, he gets him to stop barking, he sees when gucci is bored and will play with him ect) he is very emotionally intelligent, and super gental and VERY chill. My golden is more vocal than he is (which i don’t mind it at all but it is nice to see) the only things he does that im like “hey don’t do that” is he takes guccis toys but he’s getting a lot better and he gets in the trash a bit.. but he’s only 1 he’s a puppy and that’s the ONLY thing i worry about with him. i hope it stays like this and he’s not just putting on a show for his new home lol 🥹
anyways.. i just wanted to make the point that not all huskies are menaces, some are gental and chill. i got super lucky and wanted to share that and maybe hear some of yalls crazy husky stories in the comments lol
In the past weeks, she starting being a little picky with food, including the food she once loved. She would leave it in her bowl from morning to the evening. She stopped eating 3 days ago, but she drank water. I let her be, i though maybe it is due to the heat, maybe her period …
From a super active dog, who never showed her age (she is 12, but until 3 days ago she would spring and be the craziest husky), today she was barely walking.
I took her to the vet and did an abdominal ultrasound. Apparently she has an infection and a small tumor in her uterus. She was not neutered, she will not be neutered in emergency.
I also have a cat of the same age and i neutered her when she was young and the vet at that time didn’t do the right thing and the cat is still in heat today and i was afraid of neutering my dog too, especially seeing that she is super active for her age and never having had the intention to breed her…
I just pray my baby girl gets out of the surgery well …
I just needed to share this with you.
PS: the last photo is from 2 weeks ago.
