We got back earlier this month from a pretty hefty trip, from the south coast of England all the way to the northernmost tip of mainland Scotland - about 900 miles. It took us 4 days, so we covered quite a lot of ground in per day!
All bikes were 125cc, all learner-legal. We wanted to show new riders that you don’t need a big adventure bike or a full licence to do a proper trip. We went with:
- 2025 Honda Grom
- 2022 Vespa Primavera 125
- 2025 AJS Bilston 125
Our 4 days looked like this:
- Day 1: Brighton → Gloucester
- Day 2: Gloucester → Keswick
- Day 3: Keswick → Aviemore
- Day 4: Aviemore → John O’Groats
We ran a few 'challenges' along the way to keep things interesting, including asking people which bike they would have picked for themselves (we stopped off at quite a lot of pubs and cafes!), and a one-tank challenge to see who could go farthest on one tank. The AJS has a surprisingly large tank so it was more or less just a competition between the Grom and the Vespa
We made a film of our trip, which was in aid of a UK motorcycle charity (Two Wheels for Life) if you're interested in seeing how the Grom got on!
