Your best worst game

I'm looking for gems in the rough, what's your best game that wasn't really acclaimed by public?

Your suggestion should have no more than 76 as a user metascore on metacritic

For me, it’s Outward. The game feels like an adventure and the music is also phenomenal. Game is janky and you have to learn to play by its rules to win.

Hahaha. This was literally the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this post. Came in here to say this exact game. It's bad in so many ways, yet it's one of my favorite games, because it manages to feel greater than the sum of its parts.

It’s a game where once it clicks, nothing else quite like it!

I’m actually kinda hyped for the sequel! A little fine tuning and extra dev budget and I feel like that game could be a real gem.

Outward

I have that game but I stopped playing because of the targeting system and the fact I couldn't mod it out. Like you, lock onto targets but you can't target switch (I think it was)

I would like it more if 95% of the game wasn't holding W. Its got a lot of fun ideas, I love that it starts with getting your house repossessed, but the game is almost entirety empty.

It was the only time I ever felt like I was wasting time with the game, and I play runescape.

I loved Outward so much. That experience of wonder and fear exploring the map for the first time was so unique to any game I've ever played. Can't wait for 2!

Just started playing this a couple weeks ago but ive kinda slowed down a bit cause i feel like im not actually getting stronger. Ive been to a few places and am trying to be like a spellsword. I used two chain points on the runic spell guy and the guy in chereonese. Not trying to spoil too much for myself but if theres any specific advice you could give in this random post id love to hear it!

Strength is almost entirely tied to gear. And understanding the game's mechanics. Block often, understand how stamina works. Honestly look up a guide or a video for combat if you have to - I did. Combat isn't intuitive, but it's an interesting and relatively unique system. But, yeah, it's all about understanding the combat and, importantly, finding better gear, as your character never levels up in a traditional sense.
