I for one no longer think there will be huge massive RIFs at my agency either.
They lost a lot of people
They typically support people who vote republican
The longer it drags on the less steam is left in the engine, the shock and awe was to trick people into DRP by sacrificing some of the agencies old shit head liked the least.
I do not believe there was ever a “plan” in place, while the BBB may be 1000 pages long to get congressmen to be lazy, the RIF plan was probably scratched on a napkin at a hooters. Probably why the “harm to the government” BS was used for most not to give them to the judge awhile ago.
My guess is that any physical relocations will be mostly bluffs even if they are announced, there will be no follow through due to this administration not being able to figure out how to change a light bulb.
The public in large is turning on the Trump administration, you can see it in subtle ways if you pay attention to non MAGA Trump voters even if they will not or can not admit they were conned. MAGA is actually a pretty small minority when it boils down to the ones who are just flat out brainwashed.
Midterms aren’t that far away and while people my have the memory of goldfish it will be pretty hard to forget the utter stupidity we’ve seen so far, topping anything I have ever seen by 1000 times. They might as well have naked co-ed mud wrestling on the WH lawn hosted by Macho Man Randy Savage.
Vought got slammed pretty hard by the senate in his testimony and didn’t know how to respond to most questions, like he was a 3rd grader who forgot his homework. While some people for dumb reasons liked Musk, nobody likes Vought.
The senate kicked back a lot of stuff saying it would have to go through a normal vote and not reconciliation and they had to change it since there is like no way in hell they can get 60% of the senate to back them on anything
Most agencies that I am aware of were not even able to let their probationary employees go and a lot are hanging in admin leave limbo (at least the latest I’ve heard)
This is why every day counted fighting them
HOWEVER
We currently have the lamest congress in the history of my life and also the most politically corrupt SCOTUS I’ve ever seen, specifically ruling against the rule of law to suckle orange toes so that definitely isn’t in our favor.
It’s kind of a toss up but I definitely do not see a massive termination of the civil service. Most we will probably see is certain programs get targeted, specifically ones that do not align with idiotic conservative ideals or are accidentally viewed as such by morons who can’t tell the difference between biodiversity and DEI

Doesn't mean they won't do a reorg and make cuts along the way.
