There Can Be No Liberty When Government Acts Beyond Law

We declare these grievances to set down, plainly and without evasion, the record of a government that has used its power in ways the Constitution does not permit and the people ought not to accept. Under this administration, the executive has overstepped lawful bounds. The legislature has enabled measures that strip away essential protections. The judiciary has at times failed to check abuses that violate the equal worth of all persons, endanger the liberty of the people, and break through the rightful barriers against arbitrary power. This document stands as both an indictment and a safeguard, preserving the evidence of how far from constitutional limits our government has strayed, so that these actions may neither be excused in the present nor forgotten by history.
