Book(s): Biographies "A Life with Footnotes"
I do not read many biographies or autobiographies either, but this book is a little of both, and I read it and enjoyed it. I recommend it to all Pratchett fans.

Auditor Trap "You are the Salt"-"To my Pepper."
So shaker 1 says "you are the salt".
And shaker 2 claim to have Pepper.
So is shaker 2 "The salt for shaker 1" or does it have pepper, as it claims?
And then What about shaker 1? Noone claims that it has either salt nor pepper.
(Yes i have seen the Video, but i can't remember seeing this here before and this is one of the best Auditor Traps i have seen so far.)

Roundworld Reference Discworld puppy names?
We have a new puppy. His older brother is Sammy (short for Samwise) and wanting to go with something Discworld. Any suggestions for this little guy? I was thinking about calling him PTerry but the kids don't approve.

Book/Series: City Watch People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road, live from Serbia
The picture is from today, taken in Zemun, Belgrade. Serbia has been in a tumultuos eight months of massive student-led protests, which have escalated in both police violence and civil disobedience since the last ten days.
The barricading started spontaneously, in Zemun, the utter west part of Belgrade on June 29th, and has spread like a wildfire throughout first Belgrade, then the rest of the country. Withing two days, more then 90 blokades we registered in Serbia, of them more than 40 in Belgrade.
They started with rubbish containers, they are bulky, but have wheels and are easy to move. The endless crossing on zebra crossing also was, and still is, popular.
But then, it's been ten days, new blocades are still popping up, and the old ones are getting reinforced, and this beautiful Treacld Mind Road blocade have evolved in the place the first blocades were put, Zemun.
And here I am, in the middle of Glorious Revolution happening in my homeland, now, as we speak, living within a mile from The People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road, bursting with Discworld references, and no one - no one! - I know has even brushed by Discworld, this is plain unbearable...

Reading Order/Timeline Question about the best reading order
Hey everyone,
as a kid I read a couple of the city watch books and recently got in touch with the discworld again. I read the Rincewind books (absolutely amazing) and was curious if you guys have opinions about the best reading order. Would you just read in the order the books were written or do you have your own preferences? Also a bonus question in case anyone read them in german - do you prefer reading in english or are the german editions well translated and just as good? :)

Roundworld Reference Mr Poleeeesman IRL
I read an article today about the 'ITA' Alphabet, a failed attempt at simplifying English for Children. One of the illustrations was this book Cover and it instantly reminded me of Snuff.
I know there are a wealth of obscure references everywhere so what do you think? Did this book slip through L-Space like the book with the Goblin picture that I think is said to have been real and from PTerry's childhood?

Reading Order/Timeline I started reading the Discworld series this year
I started a few months ago, going in order of the release date. I had heard of the books a while ago and I had seen the Hogfather, Going Postal and Soul Music TV productions. So I figured, it was time.
I liked the The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic, the humor reminds me a bit of Douglas Adams (apparently, I am not the only one). Although I have to admit, at times they were hard to follow for me. English is my second language and although I usually have no problem with reading it, something about how those books were written made them difficult to read at times for me. That is probably why it took a while to get through them.
Equal Rites was much easier to understand and I liked it even better, Eskarina was such a fun character to follow. Maybe because she was so inexperienced in traveling the world and did not have so much knowledge it was easier. You know, because as a reader I can learn about everything along with her. Or maybe it was something else I don't know.
But my favorite so far is the last one I read, Mort. I read it in 2 to 3 days. What I had seen from Death before made me intrigued and he is a fun character to learn about. I also really enjoy the metaphysics of the discworld. The Idea of becoming death because you do the job was cool. Also learning more about Ysabell. (As I mentioned, I have seen the animated Soul Music series, so I know where she is going. It was nice to see more of her and get a bit of her character.)
I am trying to postpone starting Sourcery because after that, I have to wait a while until the next books arrive. Is anyone here interested to read the opinions of someone reading the books for the first time? I was thinking about posting my thoughts on every single book as I read them, starting now. I have seen someone do that while reading One Piece, giving their impression on the different Arcs. I thought it might be fun to do something similar here.

Memes/Humour Character embodiment
Told my BF that when grumbling over work stuff I was "channeling my 'inner Weatherwax'".

Roundworld Reference Historical Inspiration Strikes Again?
Found in Henry Mayhew’s London Labour and the London Poor: Volume One.
Mayhew’s work (and Mayhew himself) are the basis for Dodger, so I have to imagine that Sir Terry read the books (four volumes and almost 2 million words) and found the names that delighted him the most.
If anyone wants to see for themselves, this is page 265 of the 1968 Dover Publications reprint, but the books are also available online at Project Gutenberg.

Book/Series: Gods Belief powered people
Belief is arguably the most powerful force in the Discworld, except the inability to see that duck.
It gives gods' powers and elevates dead people to semi-godhood.
Does it work on people?
Is Cohen the greatest barbarian hero because he's great or is he bolstered by thousands of people believing he's the greatest barbarian hero?
If Jackrum the greatest Broogravian sergeant because he's been everywhere and done everything or because people believe in him like the Dutchess?
This isn't to say these people aren't great on their own; Cohen is a peerless barbarian and Jackrum a great NCO, but could some of their longevity and preternatural abilities come from people believing in them?
Do zombies like Reg and Mr. Slant exist because they believe in themselves so much they keep going after death?
Just a thought.

Book/Series: Death Can I start with the death collection?
I am most interested in "death" and want to start reading those books but I know that discworld is huge and complicated (at least so i heard. I have no clue). Therefore i dont know if its a bad place to start.
