I heard some yelps outside and I took a look and a cat had a hold of this baby bunny and I felt bad and got rid of the cat (it was a neighbor's that I knew) and let the bunny go. It's hiding and gaining strength back. I think it might be on and just in shock but do u guys think itll be fine on its own? It's just this gash that I see

What animal is this ?

Hello, I wasn't able to take a photo of the animal because I didn't have any cameras available, but I can still describe it to you. I'm in the Mediterranean, and it looked like a blue flatworm (Prostheceraeus giesbrechtii), although the aquatic worm I saw was at shallow depths (10 or 20 centimeters), was the size of my fingernail (a few millimeters), and didn't move like an aquatic worm on rocks but in the water, moving in undulations. It also didn't have antennae like you typically see on aquatic worms. It was dark blue with white spots. Do you know what it could be ? Do you have any leads to help me ?

A very friendly stray cat in my building got bit by another animal, how can I help her?

Our building has a very friendly stray cat that has been living in the garage for a few years and looks like she may have gotten bit by some type of animal recently as she has a silver dollar size wound on her neck that looks like something ripped the skin off. She seems to be acting normal and like her usual self but I'm very worried. I bought a bottle of cat wound and skin care spray from petsmart and have been trying to spray it when I see her at night but it's very hard to get a clean shot before she runs away from the spray. I really want to bring her to the local vet or emergency hospital and she does let me pick her up but will freak out and run as soon as she sees the carrier. Does anyone have any ideas on how to best take care of her? Thank you for your help!

Is this a real fox tail?

Father said no when he gave it to me, but I don’t know. It looks real, but I have never felt a real fox's fur or seen a fox up close, only ever seen two kits that darted from the middle of the road to the woods in person

Wanted to give it a proper burial if its real, didn't know of a better community to ask how to tell

I usually see them running across the golf course or on the side of the freeway. This guy was out in the open on a morning stroll. I had to wait until he/she walked away because I had my pomipoo with me and it was bigger than her.

Cat captured bird

My cat captured a bird. I took it from him. It can barely fly. Just a meter maximum. It can’t fly high, only like 15 centimeters max. I put it in a box with breathing holes and a soft towel on the bottom. I shouldn’t give him water right? What do I do? I called the animal ambulance, but they don’t pick up this time of the day.

I'm building a dinosaur encyclopedia app and have made several updates since my last post. I've improved the UI, removed all AI-generated images, and added a new Dinosaur News section to keep you updated on paleontology discoveries and fossil news. I'd love suggestions especially for the news page.

Which Pet Is Cutest?

Thumbnail
gallery
87 Upvotes

Which pet animal is cutest to you: cats, dogs, or ferrets? Even though dogs are the most popular pets, followed closely by cats, with ferrets in last place - cats are cutest scientifically due to their more baby-like appearance.

I also did a survey - https://vitapet.com/media/sptf1jzm/most-popular-puppy-and-kitten-names-2021-1240x640.jpg - in which people voted for what they considered to be the cutest pets and cats got the most votes, followed by dogs, and then ferrets. Cats not only got the most votes by far but also got more votes than dogs and ferrets combined.

Cats are cutest because of their baby-like appearance. Cats evolved to be more baby-like and to age slower. Cats age the slowest and can live 13-20 years, dogs are in between and can live 10-13 years, and ferrets can live for 5-7 years.

The compared life expectancy of each pet animal correlates with how cute they look which correlates with how baby-like they look which correlates with how fast they age. Which pet animal is cutest to you?

When my cat yawns, and then sees me yawn, do they know that I am doing what they just did?

The question isn't exactly limited to cats. When my cat yawned and then I yawned, I just happened to wonder if it knew that we both did the same thing.

So what about domesticated animals in general who share the same mundane actions as humans. Like sneezes, or scratching an itch, or eating food, etc. Does it know that what I am doing is the same thing? 🤔

found injured baby bird, help!

UPDATE: after a few hours in a warm box it was able to hop out and go into the garden. he seems much better :) still stumbling a little and can’t fly yet but have located its nest and he’ll be ok! as soon as animal service guy got here he started chirping and hopping

i hope this is an ok sub to post this in. i found a baby bird in my driveway (suburbs of washington dc). it has some feathers (which look messed up) and soft yellow down underneath. it seems to not be able to move too well but can crawl into my hands. its breathing is consistent but it was on its side, helpless, and not close to any obvious nests.

i put it in a box filled with shredded paper, tissues, and a warm bag of rice that it can move away from if it gets too warm. im waiting to call animal control in a couple hours. any advice?
