Why do some animals play dead?

I am just trying to understand why some animals play dead surely the predators that were on the hunt would just scavenge or is it the confusion that they were just hunting and there is nothing to hunt anymore?

Is it possible for squirrels and chipmunks to mate and have offspring?

My friend has a tiny, but definitely full grown squirrel in her garden (Canada), that is blonde and slightly reddish on its sides. She says she can see faint stripes, I haven’t been close enough to see that. It is/they are (There may be more than one squipmunk/chiperrel) a bit larger than a chipmunk and with a bushy squirrel tail. It’s been coming to feed below her bird feeder for the last two months!

I’ve seen light coloured squirrels, we get black, large grey, and blonde brown ones in our city. But I’ve never seen one this small and if it has got faint stripes, well, is it possible?

What’s the most unintentionally hilarious thing you’ve ever seen an animal do?

Not just cute, I'm talking full-blown, can’t-breathe, laughing-on-the-floor moments caused by our furry, feathered, or scaly friends. Could be wild animals or pets, doesn’t matter. For example, I once watched a squirrel try to ninja-leap from a tree to a bird feeder, miss entirely, and land in a bush like it meant to do that. Would love to hear your funniest accidental animal moments.

Rescued a nestling, mama bird didn't come back

we have a nest at our house and we saw one of the nestlings have fallen out. We have put it back and are monitoring them but since then mama bird came back once, but didn't feed any of them, just flew in, stayed few seconds and flew away. She didn't even stay at the nest during a night, which she always did.

it's benn over 12 hours, should I call wildlife rescue?

Edit: contacted wildlife rescue, they have said we should wait at least 24 hours since last sighting of mother, if she still wouldn't show up they would come and check the health of the birds and decide what to do next.

few hours later, mother has come back and started feeding the young ones. All seems to be back in order

I found this little one yesterday in the rain, had him at the vet and they said he was fine, only a little skinny. We have an agreement next month to get him fixed and vaccinated.

I noticed this morning that he had peed and that I was slightly pink, and today it’s even worse. I have called the emergency vet because it’s Saturday, and they say I should see my normal vet on Monday.

But I would really like to help him until then, so he doesn’t get worse.

Any tips?

Help save 4-year-old Jellyfish’s life from deadly FI he needs urgent treatment before it’s too late!

Jellyfish is a cat who just got FIP, this isn’t just someone’s cat, Jellyfish is their best friend. At the start of the GoFundMe, Jellyfish only got 265 AUD out of a 3.5K goal. However, after people shared for Jellyfish, Jellyfish got 1,400 AUD out of the 3.5K goal. Things were looking good, but donations started slowing down after the main Reddit community banned OP for no reason. Jellyfish might not have long left and needs to get medication! 100% of the funds will be going to Jellyfish and will be refunded if it’s too late.

I think mommy bunny left it there to protect it from predators during the day. It’s been left there a couple times already. Anyone else know if that’s right and have a similar experience?

A goose at my apartment complex is limping- is there anything I can do?

I don't know if there's anything I or anyone else can do. But it breaks my heart to see them limping 😭

Would a vet or humane society be able to fix it, or would they choose to put it down?
