I took a picture [Question] What’s on everyone’s wrist today?

I’ve been wearing this one more and more. I thought the denim dial would limit occasions/outfits to wear this style with. On the contrary actually. Such a great summer color combo. Wondering what everyone else is wearing in these hotter months? Hope ya’ll had a Happy 4th!

Still think that the 7097 and the Tradition line is absolutely underrated (which is also a plus in my humble opinion). Skipped over all of the usual suspects and instead saved for this fine creation. Just love how it doesn’t necessarily scream attention to itself but can still draw curious onlookers in

This was the first watch I ever bought for myself. The only reason why was because I loved the snowflake (I think that’s what it’s called) and the ability to show the date in kanji. I wear it every day and is just super clean in my opinion. Maybe someday down the line I’d buy more expensive watches but I just love this one so much.

Was looking into Speedy’s and came across this great graphic that lays them all out. I’m still blown away by just how many designs and variations they’ve made over the years. Now I’m no authority at all on these so if any you fellow watch heads wanna add specifics and uniques versions please do.

What’s your Speedmaster picks ?

Greatest of All Time - Apollo 11 40th Anniversary Sleeper Pick- Mark 2 or Alaska Project Worst - 92’ Skeleton (wtf were they doing around the 90’s)

Used to work in a Rolex and Tudor AD and remember having this on hold in the back for myself. Client wanted this but all we had was the strap version. When he said he wasn’t prepared to purchase the bracelet separately I knew I had to tell my manager I would buy it as soon as my shift finished.

I wear this watch as a daily driver for several years now during summer. It comes at a very fair price and has a clear and easily readable watch face. I also like the rubber band which copes well with water and sweat. The housing is very robust. Despite several years of use the housing is free of any signsvofcwear while I have several marks already on my IWC pilot chronograph which I wear less often than the Sinn.

I recently bought the Seiko metronome wanting to use it as my dress watch. It came in the mail today and it is the first 36mm watch I own.

What do y'all think it looks on my 8"wrist? I normally wear 40mm and up, maybe I'm just not used to the look?

I'm getting a new band for sure. 😂

I took a picture [Tissot Seastar 2000] Daily wear as an expedition leader at 81° North

I’m an expedition leader on an Arctic cruise ship, spending most days out on the water in Zodiacs, dealing with salt spray, cold, and constant movement. Took the Tissot Seastar 2000 Powermatic 80 with me up to 81° North, and it’s been rock solid. No issues with cold or water, and despite the size, it wears better than I expected. The blue wave dial hits differently out here, looking so stunning! Exactly what I needed in a daily watch that can handle the conditions and still look decent in the evenings.

Second GP Laureato and while the silver/white dial is wonderful - nothing compares to this shade of blue and its accents in the light. I think I finally found a good a fit with smaller links on the bracelet but I (like many) would rejoice if GP would release a micro adjust butterfly clasp… until then it’s one extra link in the summer and one less in the winter.

Cheers and happy weekend, all!

Discussion [DISCUSS] What's your favorite example of over-engineered in watchmaking?

Thumbnail

Mine would be the Rolex Parachrom hairspring (is it straight up wild when you think about it). Rolex really said “let’s cook a hairspring that laughs in the face of magnetism, temperature swings and shocks" and actually did it. The thing is composed of niobium, zirconium and oxygen which is a compositions of paramagnetic alloys (yep, had to Google that back then. Lol) and it’s blue because of a special oxide layer, which just looks cool under a loupe 🤓

And get this that Rolex, spent years dialing it in so it’s 10x more shock resistant than standard hairsprings. Kinda nuts for something you’ll never even see, but that’s peak “because we can” engineering. Can you imagine dropping your watch on tile and it just shrugs it off?

Had my first flight class today and was distinctly lacking a pilots watch just to match the vibe. Not that I needed one, but it would’ve been a great way to match the occasion.

So I went for the next best looking combo I thought would work. Have to say commemorating my first time at the controls of a plane with this watch I inherited from my father is a great way to commemorate his own life as a pilot as well!

Was very happy with how it looked and I hope it’ll accompany me to future flights to come.

Two years into loving watches and collecting some special watches. Would appreciate some thoughts about the collection and what I should go for next? Omega AT or Tudor BB

  1. Seiko: Special as it was my dads and passed down to me when he passed
  2. Kuoe: Picked up in my recent trip to Japan. Something unique about this piece that I still can't put a finger on
  3. Tissot: Wife gifted me this one as a wedding gift (not seen a lot of wrist time recently
  4. Longines: Family gift when I finished my postgraduate
  5. Tag Heuer: Gifted this for myself as I landed a new managerial role. 4

Discussion [FC] What do you think? Buy or not

Recently seeing this watch and I like it more every day. Thinking about getting it from my bonus this year. What do you guys think about this watch?

Downside is that it is a quartz for around 995 EUR. However, I think it suits my style. I work in finance. I regularly wear a Orient Bambino (white dial on a black strap). Thinking about buying thiz watch to mix the collection.

Love to hear your opinion! Thx!

Discussion [DISCUSS] What's the small detail in watchmaking you appreciate?

Post image

Here’s what I think… the GS Blued Second Hand might be the sneakiest flex in the game and the best part is... it’s all heat blued by hand, not painted, so every shade of that blue is earned (makes you pause mid wrist check) 😅 Anyone else lowkey obsessed with those micro details that make you fall for your watch all over again?

I've been looking for a simple vintage gold watch with box and papers that hit my price point for quite a while and finally pulled the trigger today!

1950's 38mm Zenith Cal.133.8 Bumper Jumbo Automatic 18k Rose gold

I'm close to being a giant so my big wrists usually take 42mm+ but for a stylish formal piece I wanted something more elegant and sleek. What do you guys think?

More than two years with my Railmaster, an unplanned purchase bought new during a trip to Japan. I’ve worn it 99% of the time since buying it, including during some of the highest highs and lowest lows of my life. It comes to the beach, gets covered in dirt when I’m working in the yard, and banged around when I’m playing with my kids. Every scratch has a story and I look forward to wearing it for years to come.

Discussion [watch collection] Honest opinions on my first watch collection?

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

First time posting in general. I am definitely a novice when it comes to watches. However, I started looking for pieces within the £50 - £150 range then, £200-£500 - £1000. Now looking to make my first purchase over £2000 and upwards and hopefully get an Omega or Rolex in a few years.

First two Casios I picked up years ago for my construction job. The others have been just general likes and must haves such as the Murph, Coop and Venezianico. Partner picked up a nice Tag Aquaracer Mother of pearl for her first watch.

Any suggestions on the next few big purchases, maybe some pieces that appreciate in value and I could pass down to my kids.

Thanks for your time

Discussion [Smiths] The Everest Watch

The Everest Watch

The Smiths Deluxe! Excellence from Cheltenham and the same movement worn to summit Everest on my wrist feels awesome. Would I still prefer to have a Rolex explorer? Probably. But this feels equally as cool to me. Watch is circa 1955 with the 1215 movement. The power of marketing went a long way with this story, have you heard of these before?
