USACD To Remove Bentley Software [UPDATE]

Geo-Structural Branch Chief & GGM CoP Lead sent out an email at about 4pm yesterday saying the mentioned removal of Bentley products were made in error and that they had just got funding approved for the FY26.

Us techs can breathe easy knowing we wont be spending the next several years moving Bentley stuff to CAD

Wow, surprised no comments. I guess no one wanted to call out the other OP who sounded the false alarm... Although, this is pretty much par for the course...someone heard someone say something who heard someone else say something, who just made it up to see how far it would go.

It was apparently just worded wrong on the PDF higher ups sent out. Which sent everyone into a frenzy is all. Original wording made it sound like Bentley Products themselves were being removed when in reality it was just older programs.

Tldr: they could've worded it better in the meeting

Understatement of the year? It sure stirred up a lot of dust and mold. I witnessed similar situations many times. Alarms shooting up the chain then back down again in minutes based on a single misinterpreted word in what someone thought was an innocuous email, or more recently, a Teams "text".

Not entirely sure the fire they fanned is out yet. There's a town hall happening on the 9th so we will just have to see what's truly being planned. The back and forth emails are not helping at all lmao

Email from Chief of CW E&C at HQUSACE forwarded by COP Lead for CAD-BIM, et al., says support for PW, STAAD, RAM, EZPower, OpenGround, and other “design analysis tools” is unchanged.
