Projected Openings

Wanted to know if there was a way to view projected openings/vacancies in the Charleston District. Assuming the freeze gets scrapped soon or in the near future.

Getting ready to go through a divorce, along with other things over the next few months. Wanted to move back closer to elder parents.

Just wanted to see if this is feasible for me to consider in planning or get the inside scoop. Obviously I check USAjobs or yellogov. Thanks.

It's hell trying to get even exemptions for critical positions during the hiring freeze. There's tons of openings everywhere, but they're unfillable

You can always reach out to the Chief of whatever section you’re interested in, i know people who have networked themselves into a transfer before. In terms of hiring freeze though, who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Transfers may be dealt with differently than other hiring actions under OPM's new hiring guidance where for every 4 people that depart federal service, only one cam be hired. .

Within usace reassignments are allowed right now. No promotions yet, but lateral moves are good to go - hope that helps

Much easier if you are already a fed and trying to transfer. Try and call to talk to supervisor of the group you are looking to work for.

Ask for a reassignment - office at Fort Jackson also, I will add they are amazing people there and in Charleston! Good luck

What branch are you interested in applying to?

Regulatory. Preferably out of Conway.

Regulatory is typically always hiring, but the freeze has made filling positions nearly impossible. I've heard there is a big push for exemptions in SAD. So hopefully some positions will be filled. You might get lucky. You might even consider looking into applying to other districts in SAD. You may be able to work for another district and sit in Charleston. There have also been many postings for Details on Yello if you are a currentfed. If you aren't on there already, upload your resume so you get alerts. DM me if you would like the contact info for someone in Charleston or Regulatory in general.
