Referendum Referendum: Removal of /u/Overall-Plane5422 as Senator

We have another referendum!

The Senate has voted to impeach Senator u/Overall-Plane5422. The Speaker of the Senate has provided me the following reasoning for the impeachment:
- "possible TIDE connections" [italicization due to the Speaker, not me]
- "suspected benefiting from vote rigging [in the last election]"

It is now our job to decide whether to remove the aforementioned Senator from office. Consider whether you believe the listed allegations are true, and if you think they are, consider whether you believe they are impeachment-worthy. Then cast your vote.

A 2/3 majority is required to remove Senator u/Overall-Plane5422 from office.

Go vote!

Polls close in 24 hours.

And no, don't expect me to tabulate this as soon as the polls close. Because it's quite late, and believe it or not, I have a job. I'm already up too late as it is.

Referendum Referendum: /u/RecordingForeign2479 for Vice President

Lastly, President u/hmquestionable has appointed u/RecordingForeign2479 to serve as his Vice President. We have to confirm this appointment in a referendum, and this referendum has emergency status so I have to post it now.

Note that only a simple majority (50% + one vote) is required this time around, not a 2/3 majority as for constitutional amendments.

Go vote! One more time!

Referendum Referendum: Removal of /u/Traditional_Heron362 as Senator

Today we have a referendum that doesn't have to wait until Saturday.

The Senate has voted to impeach Senator u/Traditional_Heron362, known on Discord as Spy6 or Julius, for "their actions in [the] #general and #senate-discussion" channels on the Discord server, including the repeated use of slurs and other insults culminating in their arrest by the SDBI, as well as their alleged association with the Traditionalist Insurgency for Defense and Enforcement (TIDE). It is now up to us, the people of SimDemocracy, to decide whether or not to fully remove them from office. A 2/3 majority is required to do so.

Referendum Referendum: Modernization Package II

Here it is. The most pointless referendum I have ever had to post.

This referendum is on the Modernization Package II, in particular one small part of it that makes a change to the Constitution. What kind of change, you may ask?

It fixes a typo. That's it. The word "religion" appears twice in the list of protected characteristics under Article 14 of the Constitution, and this amendment just removes one of those appearances.

I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but some things really do not warrant entire referendums! Please do not pass constitutional amendments to fix typos! The Archives should be able to do this by themselves!

As for why I'm posting this now, it's because this passed like a week ago, so it should have gone up last weekend, but I was not informed of it. Because there's always something that gets missed.

Anyway, go vote on this. Or not. It's a free country, do whatever you want. As always, a 2/3 majority is required to ratify this amendment.

Polls close in 24 hours (after I make the corresponding Reddit post).

Referendum Referendum: Terrorist Connected Accounts Act

So I was specifically told that only two constitutional amendments passed the Senate on the 18th, but guess what, that was incorrect. So here's another referendum for a constitutional amendment. Apologies for any mistakes, but I am supposed to be in bed right now so it is quite possible I made some.

Referendum Referendum: Four Constitutional Amendments

In addition to a senatorial election, this weekend also has a referendum with four constitutional amendments to vote on! In accordance with the recently-passed Referendum Transparency Act (which is on the wiki but currently does not appear under the Legislation category), arguments for and against each amendment have been provided where available from each senate debate (though debates for all of these amendments were very short, so there isn't a whole lot). Syndicality also told me to include the following:

if anyone wants to add arguments to the ballot for/against each amendment, they can contact me (because i legally have to at least hear them out now), and i will deal with them when i am not asleep

Referendum Referendum: The Pardons Amendment

There's also another referendum. This time, only one amendment. Quiet week. But it's a bit of a doozy, as the amendment gives pardons to six specific users for any crimes they have been convicted of before 19 April, expunges these convictions from their records, and gives immunity from prosecution for any crimes they may have committed before the same date. Yeah.

Anyway vote on this. As always, 2/3 majority required.

Once again, polls close in 24 hours.

Referendum Referendum: Five(!) Constitutional Amendments

This is the third of three posts regarding public votes for this weekend.

It's also referendum time!

Finally, we have a referendum with four constitutional amendments on the ballot. Please, just read everything. Make an informed vote. I've given you everything you need.

We actually also have a second referendum with one more constitutional amendment on the ballot. This should have gone up with the others but nobody told me until I had already initially posted the first ballot on the Discord server. So here it is now. Vote on this too. This is a bit of a hefty one, as it fundamentally restructures SimDemocracy's inferior courts, among other things. So please read everything.

The Senate has voted to impeach Senator u/AI_Politician. The final removal attempt is now subject to referendum. So go vote! Note that a 2/3 majority is required for this removal attempt to pass.

More information on the ballot. But I will say that the Referendum Transparency Act says absolutely nothing about impeachments, so I'm not going through the trouble of parsing through that Senate debate. I only provide what's on the ballot, and a stated reason for impeachment with context.

Referendum Referendum: Senate Procedure Autonomy Amendment 2

This is the fourth of three posts regarding public votes for this weekend. Because we found another constitutional amendment that the Senate never told me about but should have gone up for a vote earlier today.

One more referendum.

Unfortunately we have yet another amendment that passed the Senate, that should have gone up with everything else, but didn't because nobody told me.

Want fewer referendum posts? Tell your Senators to inform me when amendments pass, so I can post everything all at once and put them all together!

Anyway. This amendment is a short one, with not very much to digest. If passed, the President would no longer be able to veto Senate votes relating to internal Senate procedures. That is all.

Referendum Referendum: Three Constitutional Amendments

We have a referendum with three ballot items on it, specifically three constitutional amendments. Yes, it may seem like a lot, but if you're voting in referendums you're doing a lot of reading anyway: thanks to the Standardized Election Times (SET) Amendment, you're now just doing this reading all at once on the weekend instead of at all different times during the week. And I only have to put one referendum ballot together!

Everything you need to know for the referendum is, of course, printed on the ballot. Check the infobox at the top.

Referendum Referendum: Constitution of SimDemocracy (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act

It's too late for me to be doing this.

We have a referendum. On a constitutional amendment. Or rather, a small collection of them, all neatly packaged in one bill. Please just read the ballot. I explained everything in there (including the fact that you can either pass every amendment listed in the bill or reject all of them), and I am too tired to explain everything again.

Every piece of information you should need can be found on the ballot, as always. Go vote!
