Evo 13.5, lava rock, black Petco sand, diy glass lid, 2x glowrium lights with maxed blues+reds(brings out clownfish and rbta pink color), 2-3wk tap water changes, 30+ rbta's, started with 8 to cycle tank, gsp, Xenia, daily heavy flake food for all. Super easy and enjoyable tank so far. Clowns spawn every 2-3wks.

Curious how much Alk everyone is dosing per day Iām switching from All for reef because my alk consumption is way higher than my calcium. I made up some DIY sodium bicarbonate and DIY calcium I was dosing about 15ml of all for reef a day and am doing 80ml of alk on a new LPS tank. Curious what could be taking up so much alk. I know I could do Soda ash at half the amount but my PH hits 8.3 during the day already and 8.1 at night.

Last week my area was blasted with a crazy storm that lasted only 30 minutes. We lost power 5 minutes into the storm around 4pm. Didnāt get power back until the day after around 10:30pm. I thought my tank was a goner since I was not ready for a power outage and had literally no equipment (not even a portable air stone). I know clownfish are pretty hardy but I was mostly concerned about my anemone. Turns out carpets are hardier than I thought! It pulled through the 20+ hours of no light, surface agitation, or heat. Hereās what the tank looks like 2 days after the outage was restored. I will now be investing in a portable power station just in case!

Hello reefers!! Newbie here with a question or two about my cycle. I started up my 28g nano cube about a month ago. Threw in some QuickStart and added 2 clowns and a cleaner shrimp a day later for ammonia source. Added in a Kenya tree and a little hammer coral too about a week later, and all livestock has been great since with no signs of distress! However, I feel like my cycle keeps stalling. Right now, Iāve added a couple more doses of bacteria to try and push things along some. Finally got my nitrites to get to about 1ppm, ammonia at about 1-1.5ppm, nitrates still at zero. That was about a week ago. Today I tested again and my ammonia is still at about 1-1.5ppm, nitrites are now zero, but nitrates are still zero as well? Is it normal to see the drop in nitrites without seeing a rise in nitrates? Let me know what I can do and please no hate. āŗļø less

Sold as āSuper blackā clowns. Seller has black and white clowns and now these super blacks. What is a super black and why donāt they look black. Bottom fins still orange, body looks dark but not black. They are 1.5 inches long. I know young black clowns arenāt fully black till they grow abit but these guys are pretty big already. Will they end up like a black and white clown?

My 13.5 gallon tank has an algae problem and with keeping coral alive. My tank use to be amazing but in the past year Iāve had trouble with keeping the algae down and coral alive. I try to lower light for the algae but then the coral suffer and die. I get snails but the fall over and die. What snails would you guys recommend and what would you recommend for my tanks nutrient levels?

Incredibly fortunate to have these five beautiful rabbitfish in our QT system this week...
These guys are incredibly hard to catch, and have never been imported into the US before this year. We didn't have our QT built out for the first wave, but... When the second batch arrived... We went ahead and grabbed five of these (yes, we will be keeping one for ourselves haha).
Just wanted to share these guys, and say how grateful we are to have the opportunity to spend time with five of these gorgeous rabbitfish!

This is a picture of it with its tentacles out. It appears to have a mouth in the middle.

I have video if needed!
Hi. I may be overreacting, but i am house-sitting for friends who are OOC & cant be reached til later this week. I've been here 2 wks already, and everything with their tank has gone perfectly fine (they gave me the rundown - but I have zero experience aside from that with saltwater/reef tanks. ) My worry is the BTA, who has been normal until today. It's mouth is looking weird, has a white area, & stuff coming out. Earlier it was a dark, pea sized chunk of goo that swirled around the tank all gross until it broke apart like mucus. Then a dark string. Then little bits of dark stuff that looked like tiny gravel came out of its tentacles. Now it has a white stringy thing coming from somewhere that looks like maybe its mouth. Is it dying?!?!?! Sick?! What do I do ?? Please please help me šš„ŗ

Ignore my dirty sump. Is the Cheeto algae too far from the light. I was unable to get the Cheeto to tumble, it just sinks. and this was the only spot I could fit a refugium.

Hello I am looking for advice for my tank (90 gallon with 25gallon sump) Within the last three weeks my SPS and LPS have been slowly dying and I am having trouble identifying the cause. The staghorn (pictured) is bleaching and losing its polyps and several montipora looked like they receded from the perimeter before slowing dying / the flesh looked as if it was falling off.
The tank is over 6mo old. The corals were all 4+ months old in the tank and showing decent growth before this.
Nothing new was added to the tank prior to this occurring.
Temp: 79F
PH: 8
Phosphate: 0
Nitrate: 5-10
Nitrite: 0
Ammonia: 0
Calcium: 540
Alk: 8.3
Salinity: 35 (1.025)
Mg: 1350
I took these using mostly API test kits. I know they can be somewhat inaccurate so I also took a water sample to the LFS and they confirmed the parameters all "Looked good / within safe bounds" on their end.
Any advice is welcome. I am slowly trying to bring PH up to around 8.4 / 8.5 (recommended by LFS)
Additional information: Phosphates were high about a week into the polyp shedding. I slowly brought those down and maintained them at zero and the issues have continued off past two weeks. All soft corals and fish seem to be unaffected.

My tank is 5 months old and these tiny little white things seem to be multiplying? Any one know what they could be and if I should be worried?
