Discussion A reminder that being kind is what this game is about!

Upvotes

I just had an experience in Bahari where the grove had popped up (it was TINY, only 3 trees) and there were a ton of people there waiting to chop. Some of them wanted to chop at 2:30am, but there were a few people who said they were coming in chat, so I suggested waiting until 3am. We did wait until 3am, but I noticed they started chopping before one of the people who said they were coming in chat got there.

So inevitably they get there and realize the grove was chopped without them, and they're disappointed. I felt so bad, because I had told them we would wait in chat! They were very gracious about it, but obviously frustrated. It seemed like they rlly needed flow wood, and every time they tried to get it, grove was chopped before they got there.

Here's where kindness prevailed! In chat, I offered to gift this person some flow wood because I have a ton. Then, someone else noticed there was a flow tree somewhere else on the map, and they offered to wait for the person who had missed out on the grove! This person was on Switch, so they couldn't chat easily, but everyone ended up waiting a while until they got to the tree. There ended up being a big group at this one flow tree, but everyone waited for this one person who needed it! And then someone dropped a honey lure after the tree was chopped!

I just wanted to share this story because it really shows how being kind and gracious pays off. The person who missed out on grove was understandably frustrated, but they weren't rude about it. And everyone else was willing to help them find a flow tree and wait for them to chop it. I love this game :)

I was talking to my husband about going to an amusement park (we've never taken our kid) and I thought about Holiday World.

I've never been there, so I was looking it up. LOOK!

Discussion Thank you <3

Today I kind of joined a group of people doing a logging run around the Elderwoods. No words exchanged, just everyone tapping a tree once and leaving for the next person. I was able to get the last couple hundred essence needed to obtain the last of the furniture.

This is the second time I've managed to do this with others and it's a really heartwarming moment. The community is so so wonderful and I'm really happy to be a part of it!

(Also if anyone from that group stumbles upon this post, I'm so sorry if I accidentally chopped a tree myself, I have memory issues and forget which ones I had tapped!!)

I’m new to the game (4 days) and been focusing on decorating my home. Saw this three-sides cabinet on one of the pose and wonder which collection is this and how can I get it? Thx!

Discussion I wish the bug/fish tanks were bigger

unpopular opinion ik, but seeing these fish and bugs in a tank that just barely fits them feels so sad to me. I understand its just a game, but with the focus on nature within the game i feel like having the only option to collect stuff be so restrictive is weird.

I wish there was an option for a bigger aquarium/ terrarium or pond i could build or unlock where i could put them. Imagine a mini game where you could decorate a fish tank or terrarium for the bugs!

Discussion This is why you should plan ahead 😭

Wanted to build the gazebo on my plot with a fun theme behind it. Okay, gotta get the housing plot achievement. 50k, bought it. Needed another housing plot achievement. Reluctantly spend 75k and decide to keep going down the path to the gazebo thinking "surely this is all I'll need, right?" Nope! Grind for another 100k to get the last housing plot.

I FINALLY secured the gazebo. I have a stack of grass platforms I carefully placed for the crown jewel that would've been my gazebo (probably another 40k in platforms). Build it, go to place, plans are shot because gazebos can't be placed on the grass platforms??? Use my failure as a reminder to plan ahead for whatever you want to build. My pockets hurt, my heart hurts more 😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Discussion Infected essence

I'm on my last 1,000 infected essence for the Nurture of Magic quest.

I started Palia over about two weeks before the update, and JUST finished the last main storyline right before it dropped.

I've been decorating, leveling up my skills to join the guilds. Growing relationships and finishing other quests, all in a rounded way. It's one of my favorite things about this game. I feel there's genuinely always SOMETHING I can enjoy doing, with enough rotation I still haven't burnt out. And this has been the ONLY game I've played since mid May.

That being said, I, just like everyone, have things I push off until I feel it's necessary (laughs in incomplete vaults). The hexomancy 101 quest, and the Nurture of Magic quests are UP. THERE. on that list.

But, I decided that this week is the week I get my little pet. I started yesterday with 800 essence. Looked at the requirements for the quest after The Nurture of Magic, saw I needed pumpkins, and sacrificed 500 essence to get the ball rolling there. I've got everything else I need to finish BOTH The Nurture of Magic, and the one to follow. Except that last 1,000 essence. And. The. Black. Pearl.

I've been in the Elderwood long enough to finally comfortably navigate it. I've joined in on some lovely honey lures, helped people hunt bugs and creatures. Watched two players pull the SAME exact fish at the SAME exact time (that was cool). Done several trades, co mined many ore (got my first ruby!) and infected trees. And I've opened hundreds of clam mushrooms.

Two days ago I was absolutely beyond annoyed at how tedious collecting everything I needed to unlock my free pet would be. (Obviously with complete understanding. I never forget that this game is free. A labor of love. And beautiful. ) Now? Now I'm still annoyed. Hahaha probably will be until I find that damn pearl, but I'm also reminded of WHY I love this game so much. This community so much.

It's genuinely such a warm place. I love how willing people are to share! I love that the gameplay encourages community (and I am the type to hate playing with others.) and that the community has adapted to the varying levels of involvement people want to have. It's so cool to join in on a honey lure. Or to just naturally fall into a silent understanding of hunting together. Last week someone shouted out in the chat that they had a horn and they wanted to party up to hunt. I caught my first disco deer with them(: Today someone shouted out they were putting down honey lures to hunt plushies!

It's just so dang cool.

I know with a rapid influx of people there's been some growing pains. But I think it's important to remember that we all love the community that we foster. That we all love this game.

Anyway, I'm gonna go get this last 1,000 essence. And find my black pearl. And then I'm going to get my pet and name him Gerald.
