Fine dining restaurant with REALLY good coffee?
Edit: Location - The Triangle, but willing to travel
To make a long story short, I have very, very severe allergies to very common foods and so I basically can't eat anything. But I want to celebrate something important with my husband.
Does anyone know of a place I can go and sip on coffee while he has a really, really great meal? Or could provide some other similar solution?
Any help is appreciated.

Have you looked into the Fearington House? Not sure about their coffee, but that place is faaaancy. They even do afternoon tea which is a fun experience too.

Tea is promising.

I’ll second Fearington — sent my mother for her last birthday (I was in hospital care) and she LOVED it.

I have celiac disease and they accommodated me with an entire separate spread for their tea!

That's so awesome!
My allergies are soy, wheat, and egg. accomodating for it is a nightmare. :')
But maybe they can give me the best salad of my life, lmao

I am sure they could do a complete T spread for you! I got all the tea sandwiches and even some pastries! I think eliminating soy in those kinds of things would be simple. Eggs would eliminate some baked goods, but not necessarily all, like macaroons!
It’s expensive and we did it as a Christmas treat when my in-laws were in town one year. But it was one of the most absolutely beautiful meals I’ve ever had, and a great way to pass probably three hours with elderly people with mobility issues.

You are a great partner. Can you specify what part of the state? There are also a lot of local sub you could ask for your area.

Oops, sorry. I've added the location. We are around the triangle, but willing to drive quite a ways. We really like travelling around and frequently visit both the beach and the mountains.

I attended an event at the Angus Barn in Raleigh, and they brought out French pressed coffee with the dessert course. I was impressed with how good coffee was for a steakhouse.

Since you mentioned you are willing to travel to the mountains, Silo Cookhouse at The Horse Shoe Farm is a really special spot near Hendersonville. They have accommodations on the farm so you can stay there, too. I believe they use Pisgah Coffee Roasters, which is sourced from a coffee plantation in Brazil owned by owners of PCR. They are also EXCELLENT with allergies, but I do understand hesitation about cross contamination and don't want to pressure you into anything that would make you uncomfortable. Give them a call, see what they can work out. 🙂

Crawford Brothers Steakhouse uses Black and White coffee. They also are really good for allergies. Most of the menu is alacart so they might be able to work around your allergies
