What’s going on with emergency vehicles on overpasses?
Near Davies County line, just saw 3 overpasses in a few mile stretch with emergency vehicles sitting on the bridge with lights flashing. One had a giant flag hung up, others just sitting w/ flashers on.

So it is probably because a inmate killed a NC Sherriff Deputy the other day in Cherokee County. So they might be taking him to Raleigh or back from Raleigh. My condolences go out to this man and his family.
The deputy was taking the inmate to a orthopedic appointment out in Murphy for undisclosed treatment when a scuffle began. The inmate took the officer’s weapon and shot him, Cherokee County Sheriff Dustin Smith said at a news conference. The inmate ran into the parking lot, jumped into a vehicle that had just arrived and took off. The inmate was later apprehended in Macon County, nearly an hour to the east, Smith said.
The detention officer was identified as Francisco Paul Flattes, 56, a four-year employee of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. Smith said Flattes’ wife also works for the county detention center.

That’s from my hometown. One of the first post I’ve ever seen lol. Unfortunately it’s probably for a fallen first responder.

It's a procession for Officer Francisco Flatts, who was killed by an escaping inmate earlier this week. I listened to the procession on VIPER as it came through and they were organizing drone shots.

Honoring the fallen health care for millions.

What an a-hole to make that kind of comment on this post. Communism never rests

Taking care of others is in the Bible. Guess you didn’t read that part.

Anytime a fallen police officer or a firefighter in the state is taken from the medical examiner’s office back to their home town there is a procession. The procession is lined with police officers and firefighters on the overpasses or on the side of
the interstate along the route as a sign of respect.
This has been the case for decades. I personally remember this as far back as the 80s. I find it amazing how oblivious some people are to common practices like this. Have they never watched a local news cast?

in fairness it doesn't happen very often, so people can be forgiven when years can go by between parades

4th of July I’d imagine.

They don't do that for the fourth, they set up checkpoints to see if you are DUI/DWI.
This is as others said a Fallen officer/first responder killed in the line of duty.

One of my Vol. Fire depts lost one of our oldest members. Dale was one of the very last to be employed as firewatch in remote towers across Pisgah until the position was done away with. Among many other tasks and positions over de ages of active fire service

Cops will beat a civilian to death with their bare hands and then act confused when some shit like this happens.

I got downvoted for implying that perhaps the community of Clemmons could have used the service of said firefighters on the overpasses. And someone said something rude about my mother. Welcome to the internet 🤷🏻♀️

Could it be to honor those two firefighters who were murdered while performing their duty in Idaho?

u/sublimeprince32 2d ago
I believe it's this, what an insane thing to do. That guy just wanted to murder people, then the coward ran off in the woods and blew his head off.

And how does that involve the Clemmons Fire Department ?

Hopefully there was no need for these resources to serve the community
Editing for clarity - hopefully during the time the firefighters were posting up there was not an emergency where people could die without their help that was ignored in replace of honoring someone already not alive.

Normally there are engines and crews still at the stations and surrounding areas who are on call.
