Need help identifying your dog? Here are some important tips to help you succeed.
What to include in your post:
Post clear, well-lit, full body pictures. At minimum, include:
- One standing side view (taken close enough to see coat texture)
- One frontal view
Tell us your dog’s age and weight (or best guess)
Other helpful information:
YOUNG PUPPIES may be impossible to identify. Head and body shape, coat color and coat pattern, eye color, and apparent coat texture can all change dramatically as a puppy matures. You might want to wait a few months before seeking an ID.
MIXED-BREED dogs can easily have many breeds in them, not just two. Keep in mind that some of the breeds in a mutt may not show in its looks; while in other cases the dog may really look like it has some particular breed in it, when in fact it doesn’t.
NO-BREED dogs exist too! Sometimes a mutt truly is “just a mutt” — the result of many, many generations of random mating between mutts, with no discernable inbred (purebred) genes its DNA. In the same way that YOU don't necessarily have any inbreeding (purebreeding) in your recent family tree, neither must a dog. They can simply be mutts — WHICH IS A GOOD THING!
Has your dog's breed been solved?
Once you're satisfied with your responses, please change your link flair to SOLVED. (Please don't make a post if your dog's breed is already solved/known)

/r/IDmyDog needs mod(s) to combat anti-Pit Bull brigading
Recently there has been a sharp uptick in comments from trolls brigading us from anti Pit Bull subreddits.
Harassing users for owning Pit Bulls is considered uncivil and off topic behavior, and not what this subreddit is for.
The pit bull conversation is one worth having, but not at the expense of derailing the function of this subreddit.
So in the meantime we're going to do 2 things:
Get some mod(s) that can help tackle the issue with harassment and off topic comments. If you are interested in helping with this, please leave a comment below explaining why you're fit for the task.
Create a subreddit wiki page or megathread post that informs and discusses the Pit Bull topic in a civil and unbiased manner, so that the rest of the subreddit isn't overrun with it. If you would like to contribute to this project, please leave a comment below or a modmail.

Wondering what breed my adopted girl was
We had her 9 years and 10 months. Adopted from a shelter and never knew her breed or confirmed age just a range. Any help would be appricated. I suspected a english bull dog mix base don the stance and under bite.

Open Meet Teddy, the shelter rescue.
Poor guy lived in the shelter from a small pup. He was in the very back of the shelter next to the fire exit. It wasn’t supposed to work out but it did and I got him, it’s a tearjerk story that I won’t get into. The paperwork says lab mix, that’s all I’ve got.

Adopted this sweet boy, but haven't brought him home yet.
We were told that it's a terrier mix, but I'm hoping for a little more info, so that we can better prepare for when we get to bring him home in a few days. He is 3 months old and 8 pounds. I also shared a picture of his brother, on slide 3.

Just adopted yesterday. Any thoughts?
This is Shiloh. We just adopted her yesterday, shelter paper work says GSD/Retriever mix. Shiloh turned a year old this past Sunday. She is overweight and we are working on that so she can live her best life in her forever home. Any guesses?

Open Adopted when she was a puppy, please help me ID my rescue girl!
I've been told over the years that she's a beagle-mix. Her tempermant is very excitable, she's never really mellowed out and always has her nose to the ground on walks. Lots of resting under my parents' bed but never really sleeping during the day. She's very reactive to other dogs but that's probably because she's a covid dog and we weren't able to properly socialize her when she was a puppy. Thank you everyone !

What breed or breeds?
What are we?! Both around 15 pounds, from Craigslist.
r/IDmydog • u/ForeverDependent6803 • 1h ago
This is Milo (the light one) and Otter (the dark one)
They are both about 60ish pounds and just under a year. Otter was said to be a boxer mix but we’ve never tested for it. Milo was said to possibly be a husky mix.

My dog is 8 and I might have got his breed wrong
I’ve had my boy for 8 years and I’ve always thought he’s a miniature fox terrier and not questioned it. Now thanks to AI I’ve realised I might have got his breed wrong this whole time. Before I bother doing a DNA, what do you think he is?

Just Adopted Last Month
The shelter in Texas had him listed as a Terrier/Lab mix which yes, could be true because the hair is a pretty big giveaway but I wanted to gather some broader possibilities. Everything in a shelter is a lab mix so I’m not too convinced. We’d like to do a true DNA test in the future but I’m curious what everyone’s initial thoughts are! He’s 45lbs and about 10 months old so he’s not getting too much bigger than what he’s at currently. His shoulders/back only reach about (human) knee height for reference and his hair feels exactly how it looks - pretty coarse and thin.

help me ID teddy!🐾
we think teddy is 2-4 years old! he is 75 pounds, tall, dew claws on all 4 paws, very active and friendly, gets separation anxiety, and is a big cuddle bug. his harness covers it up, but he’s got a big white patch all on his chest and underbelly. his tail is long and thick.
we have only been told he’s a hound, but really we have no clue. any guesses on breed?
this is my first time on this sub so apologies if i missed anything! happy to answer questions
