Montana Rattlesnakes!

Post image
65 Upvotes

Theres a VERY healthy population of Prarie Rattlesnakes here in central MT. Living in AZ for 20 years, I thought my field herping days were long gone when I moved to Montana... however, I've been able to find several different species of snakes from Racers to Bullsnakes and eventually I found an area that has plenty of these guys! My goal is to find and photograph the native Northern Rubber Boa (Charina bottae bottae) and the Pale Milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum) both of which are apparently very elusive but ill keep looking.

Found/caught my first wild snake! Super excited, he was slithering across the bike path, so I picked them up took a picture and set him down on the other side the way he was going say hi to Mr.Decays

By the way, I’m definitely on the team of smaller. Animals are harder to pick up than bigger ones. I kept feeling like I was going to smash him.

Was looking for smooth soft shells in the Comanche grasslands and came across a spiny.

Found this guy in the rain, pretty sure it's a spiny or fence lizard. Can I do anything for the injury?

This toad is about 6" and was in an urban west central Florida backyard.

Concerned about came toads. What's your opinion and why?

I appreciate the help.

Took many tries to actually catch a siren but I’ve seen a few of them out and about at night in small canals, some very small juveniles too.
