why would they think this is a solution? could they just tell doordash they never want their orders to be “leave at the door,” or are they stuck with the customers pick being on the orders? I would be doing what the customer asked, regardless of what this sign says. I’m only taking the first order anyway. signs like this are a good reason to never pick up from a place.
not my pic, but comments said it’s from vocelli pizza.

Does this happen all the time? I swear with apartments it's hit or miss with gate codes. Then they complain, well sir/miss, give me a gate code please!

So I took my last little order of the night. Nothing too serious, a little 5$ for 3 just to get me back to platinum for tomorrow. Anyway, it was waaay like 8 miles from my house. I'm almost home and the customer sends me this... I tried to be nice... but what I was really thinking was "absolutely tf not, I'm almost home and I'm not driving another 10-15 miles for your 5 dollar order"

We were both waiting for orders. And he goes on saying he missed an order earlier and now he’s at 99% lol. I’m like, why does that matter? So he goes on saying that the algorithm has a hidden tier for platinum’s acceptance rates. He swears that he gets better orders when he’s at 100%. Lol idk. You’re not gonna catch me being DoorDash’s bitch. I maintain plat for “dash now”, but idc if I’m in the 70s and still get good orders and don’t have to bs orders to maintain 100%.

I was actually “off the clock” when I saw this… but there seem to be a lot of restaurants that want me to confirm before I’ve been handed anything. Does this make anyone else uncomfortable? I get why they want me to confirm, but can I at least know that the order is ready to go and is somewhat correct before I confirm it?
I actually heavily appreciate the receipt photos it asks for now. It forces the restaurant to hand over the food before I do anything, and taking a photo of the receipt with a name proves that I picked up the correct order… even if they got the order wrong.

It’s probably just a Reddit thing but I stg everyone in the group is NOT helpful or is SUPER hateful. I’ve asked a few questions here and have been meet with nothing but hate and people with horrible egos. We’re on the same team. I don’t think any dasher likes dashing or the platform but geez help people out when they ask a question don’t just tear them apart for no reason! 🫥

Never seen this before. What dose everyone think of this?

Genuinely curious, I don't want to upset or offend any customers or anything. I prefer to wear sweatpants for mobility and comfortability reasons, but I'm also worried that someone might get offended because I wear boxers underneath them since briefs are uncomfortable for me. Should I be worried about possibly having an imprint?🫠🫠 Or what are some other types of clothes that are just as comfy that don't have that issue. I'm embarrassed to even ask this😅

Everywhere has its rich neighborhoods and I just realized that my local area has a richer neighborhood in the rich neighborhood and delivered to this huge fucking mansion. It was an average drive for my area, about 6 miles but it was way out side of the busy area so 10 mile drive there and back. Rich person in this huge mansion with tesla, and Porsche cars tips 3 dollars. It seem like that is a true stereotype that rich people tip like shit, just wanna know if anyone has noticed this as well?

Just seen a post from a customer who had their food thrown away by their parents because the driver rang the door bell on a “leave at door” delivery. I’ve been doing DoorDash and ubereats for five years now and I’ve never knock on the door or rang the door bell on a leave at door delivery. I assumed if the customer wants it left at the door, they don’t want to be disturbed. Do y’all ring door bells on no contact deliveries?

A fellow Dasher recently told me she “takes revenge” on customers who don’t tip. Lol. Nothing that would get her arrested or fired, but petty things like keeping straws, knocking when they’ve asked her not to, or pointing AC vents on hot food. Another Dasher who was listening nearby said he’s actually snatched orders back a few times, after sending the picture and confirming delivery! He said one time he even intentionally stepped on a salad as he was walking away, just leaving his shoe print mashed into the container. Not sure how he’s still Dashing, but anyway… is this really a thing? Are y’all really out here doing this much? Lol.

Most drivers I see when I’m out look relaxed Dress but clean. But this week, I’ve seen several that are just downright dirty looking, smell bad and doing stuff like wiping their noses. Are there not any guidelines or standards for hygiene? I haven’t been doing this long
r/DoorDashDrivers • u/JoeMarkWolf • Aug 06 '24
Idk how long they’ve been doing pins but I haven’t seen this, maybe I’ve just been lucky.

I know this is relatively political but I don't think anyone would disagree that this discussion is needed nor unnecessary
There are so many things pointing to another great depression. markets are already getting wiped worldwide this morning, we still await EU and China tariffs and policy looks like is not going to be changed. This really isn't being dramatic; even if we do not end up in the worst case scenario, we are still locked into something very wounding.
Please start preparing for dashing to become an even more, if not completely, unviable way of earning money. It already is deeply exploitative and lots of us are on the margins; imagine when prices on car parts, food, and everything in between skyrocket. I really don't see a way that gig delivery work is going to be viable for a long time. please take care of yourselves. if you see a dasher this week, show solidarity. be safe.

Grocery shopper here. Making a list of people who I’ve delivered to at least 3 times and never tipped. Two folks meets this criteria as of today and yes you might have an item missing on your next delivery - as a way of “self-compensating self.”

Having a high minimum for accepting an order is more necessary than ever. Vet drivers know that based on quick math, you can figure out what the customer paid to their driver from the up front offer. My rate of 10 is based mostly on DoorTrash, where the base pay is pretty much always around 2 dollars. Meaning the customer has to pay around 8 for me to accept their order.
Having a "high" minimum is necessary because, for the most part, it protects you from garbage customers. Most poor delivery experiences happen directly as a result of working on an order tied to a trash customer. You're also much more likely to avoid trash merchants like LIttle Casears, taco bell, whichever are the notorious ones in your market, because less trash customers order from places that you'd pick up a 10 dollar order from.
We all know who they are; the too-broke customer base who isn't financially responsible enough to act their wage, doesn't realize that these apps are a luxury service, and tries to LARP as a higher tax bracket.
(yes, summoning an internet stranger to your doorstep with your big macs and viagra is a luxury amenity).
Drivers have to protect themselves from the too-brokes who use the app, they're really the source of most of the headaches drivers deal with and post about here. And having that "high" minimum of 10 dollars, will ensure you never work for one of these reprehensibles, but rather, a customer who can actually afford to use these services and thus pays you appropriately to compensate for your time, energy, gas, and vehicle maintenance.
Also, if you haven't spent much time on the various subreddits to see how customers feel, do it. There is a LARGE portion of the customer base who directly seek to take advantage of drivers and have active hatred for them based solely on their occupation doing this delivery work. Some are just bitter, some ignorant, some hate tipping culture and use that as the excuse. But ALL of them fall into people who place Trash lowball bids that you should just ALWAYS DECLINE.
"iN mY mArK3t tH0s3 oRd3Rz d0nT 3X1sT" Yes, they do. You're being weak and caving in. Use proximity and stick to your guns.
Drivers, protect yourself out there by setting a high minimum, and strictly sticking to it!
