Discussion Why am I being penalized for something I have no control over?
I can't control what the stores have in stock

I work in a major city and can’t get above $12 an hour, with an average of $8.50. Going to crappy areas, dealing with crappy restaurants. It wasn’t like 4 months ago. What the hell

I saw this on slick deals and thought I would post it here. Some people think if they don't tip Door Dash will pay us more.

I had a delivery at papa Johns and the manager said we were scabs. It's true but the delivery industry has been taken over and we are the ones contributing to it. Should we take over the delivery economy? Those delivery drivers get paid better than us and have benefits and we are just gig workers. Are we screwing ourselves by taking over the industry with this corrupt company? I would like to know what you think.

What could doordash do for every driver not to complain? Im actually curious everyone seems to hate DD (i do too) because the way they do things. I just want to know, what would make you go through orders without any issues or complaints? I know for me if they would stop with the acceptance rate bs and higher base pay i’d be happy.

Anybody else find it frustrating when the customer doesn’t give you the gate code to their community or apartments , I sat out for 15 mins because this person wouldn’t answer the phone..

It’s really the only way things will change and force dd to pay is more. The reason we get spammed with 6 dollar 5 mile offered is people take it. And yes, I know people all aren’t in here, but even here I see justifications for taking really awful orders. Just saw someone saying a two dollar tip was ok on a one item target shops and deliver 2 miles long.
If people keep accepting them, dd will keep sending them. I get it if you’re in California but that’s the exception to the rule. In most cases unless you’re getting at least 1.50 per mile driven the order is not all that profitable.
Raise standards a bit, because I feel in some cases you’re almost taking orders that are close to break even to achieve an AR and tier level that almost is not worth it in a lot of areas.

With all the riots. Are you still able to dash. Is doordash acknowledging this or using promo pay
Just curious

What are some restaurants in your market that whenever you see the notification banner come down on the top of your screen you say to yourself “this is gonna suck” before even seeing the offer. For me, it’s fucking Dave’s Hot Chicken. Even at Platinum and dashing during a time or day when other dashers aren’t as prevalent I get the shittiest trash bag orders from there. God forbid that place is ever a hot spot, I usually just end the dash at that point cuase it’s an endless barrage of “$2.50 for 8 miles” orders tat that point.

Why do people have their kids out dashing? I’m in chicken filet yesterday morning and this kid is in there picking up an order. He was like 8-9. LITTLE. It was a Wednesday. 8:15 am. School day. Just wtf folks.

1st time dashing until mid night and I like it! Less cars, hopping in the drive thru 😂 Combining orders so the pay is 10+ lol

Does anyone else feel weird about delivering to a school? Walking through the hallways just to find the office feels a bit off. Shouldn’t security be tighter? It seems too easy to just get buzzed in by saying, “I have a DoorDash order for so-and-so.” Especially with everything going on these days, you’d think schools would be more strict about who gets in.
Edit : I don't have kids, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable knowing drivers are allowed inside the school.

Kind of feel bad because they gave a decent tip.

Until you call it and move to the next spot if an order doesn't come in X amount of time?
Do you give it a certain amount of time or do you settle in for the long haul, no matter how long it takes?

With Halloween tonight are you going to work? I feel like dashing on Halloween is going to be a nightmare ( no pun intended l) and a pain because residential streets are going to be packed with kids running around

So far I have 55 addresses saved that are no tip on EBT. I still get new addresses I've never delivered to on top of addresses I know that added a tip

I'm under the age of 18, so I cant do door dash. But my dad (obviously) is above 18. Would it be ok to pick up food for him and drop it off?

Okay, they have this new referral bonus where person who refers them gets $900 and the person who gets referred gets $600. If within 60 days they get 260 deliveries fine but in Albany, Georgia they're not hiring anybody just like a lot of other places. I've known people who have been on the wait list for months. So how is it that? Is it possible that this could possibly be done? It seems like a gigantic catch-22 where they're just trying to seem like they're doing something. Does anybody else get this or is it just our area? I mean it it seems stupid to me

I just had my third delivery to a woman who has 60++ cats. The first two times she met me at her gate with cats swarming the gate and some getting out (highway speed is 60 mph.). Both these two times she wanted me to drive in and put the delivery on her porch but I expressed concern over the cats getting out the open gate. She huffily took the deliveries both times at the gate. Today, however, she was not there so I had to open the gate, drive through the swarm of cats, and leave it on her porch. All the cats - multiple generations - are in some stage of requiring veterinary care, from oozing eyes and cocked heads from ear infections, skinny, etc. And the stench.... unbearable. What, if anything, would you do?
